andyp
mightyMouse Also, keep hearing this phrase 'cafe riding', which always raises a chuckle. Apparently, Rapha clothing is aimed squarely at the 'cafe rider' - a brilliant snub I heard from CONdor staff (of all people!).
A snub? I'm a cafe rider and proud of it! ;)
Totally.
I like riding, I like a nice caf' on a sunny day, and I like Rapha kit.
Never wanted a stock Condor though I'm sure they're great.

Con pista dor Hi. Anyone got a set of steel Merckx forks they want to sell. Colour irrelevant. To fit 55cm frame or similar. Must be good condition i.e not bent ! and have Big Teds logo on the crown.
That wouldn't be for a 55 Merckx frame with a dented fork that went on Ebay for $408 on Sunday would it?

I'm building 2 bikes up at the moment.
i. Pub Pug (Peugeot) riserbars, original parts, rattle can paint & doodles. Ideal for riding pissed, taking on trains & leaving outside newsagents after going in to buy fags (a friend left a new £800 Kona outside Spar and managed to walk the half-mile home before he realised!)
ii. IRO Angus I'm trying to build as light as I can from better quality (mostly used) parts. The bike I'll put weekend and night riding miles on this Summer.
I think Roberto's latest lot of ebay ads are pretty funny, especially the 'Perfect for...' paragraphs on the track frames.
Look what how he's tagged this item:

system ex or equivalentcan pay money, or have random bits and bobs (not many tho).
Search eBay for a BMX hub maybe.
Why not search for a 'Black front high flange hub' instead?
Go crazy and add the words 'Track' or even 'Miche' maybe. -
Momentum
miro_o Momentum: is the Lepper saddle still about? I gave up on the idea of a Brooks Swift (£!!!), but I hear the Voyager is just as nice. I hear they sell for about $100 new in the US. Would you part with it for 20 notes and postage?
Sorry dude - long gone
Yeh, sorry I got a bit mixed up and ended up on the wrong page and not seeing all the posts. I think I might shell out on a new Brooks b17 narrow. Thanks anyhow.

SkullheadWilderness Umm why is a maths thing. there's an excellent skid-spot calculator somewhere in the web, it'll let you work out how many spots different rations will give you. Seems odd numbers/prime numbers (uuuh I think) seem to give more skid spots, which is maybe why I never seem to be able to find a 17t sprocket when I'm buying.
This is a sweet little skid patch calculator widget for Mac 'eds.
I use it to aid day-dreaming of skid pirouettes at work.http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/calculate_convert/skidpatchcalculator.html

mr_tom
tom. On a totally unrelated note, does anyone know where to get gloves with metal plates over the knuckles?
Motorbike suppliers. A mate has a neat pair of gloves with carbon-fibre plates over the knuckles.
I know a biker who has ridden for 20 years with those heavy motorcross boots, a habit he picked up as a messenger in London (m'bike).
Motorcross Boot + Car Door = Revenge.
But... personally I think if you can stay un-angry, then stay un-angry.

SkullheadWilderness Does a banana in the tailpipe really work? I've often considered have one in my bag at all times...
I put an apple on the exhaust of a Dodge Ram (8ltr 'Truck' or Ecological Disaster depending on your politics). It made pretty bad 'bang' which I took as a good sign.
... I mean a friend did.

Auckland is where I rode my 1st fixed gear, in 1999. The Japanese kids with loads of cash rode converted Kleins/PoshBrand bikes.
Very progressive idea these facilities, I'm not at all surprised it's happend in NZ.
