What do you mean by pro-cycling? Cycling focussed? LCC? www.lcc.org.uk
i just mean a group that encourages cycling, gets people involved in cycling and thinking about environmental issues, i looked at LCC but they only offer internships and i work full time so need something i can do in my spare time

cheapish pedals are often the culprits of mysterious drivetrain clicking. bearings loosen up, cone cracks, or they just make noise cause of poor craftsmanship. not saying thats what it is, but maybe keep it in mind...
well that wouldn't suprise me, the stock fuji pedals are a pile of gash...they have these weird lips that stop my foot going all the way into the clip so it often takes 3 or 4 attempts to get in there. well annoying. they were next on my list to be replaced anyway so i hope that's the problem
-
Which side does the clicking come from? and does it come consitently or under pressure?
i'd include the pedals in the check list. but stripping it and re-assembling it is a good move. just check sheldons site for tools and do it early on a saturday with knowledge of the local bike shop incase it goes south!remember New bikes are like women and need greasing, tweaking and tightening after the first couple of months.
it's always from the left hand side, which is the side i fell on and the side that was treated to a nice kerb strike yesterday as well. pressure doesn't make any difference, it happens all the time. is this the kind of thing that could potentially cause more damage if left untreated?
-
It sounds like phantom shifting to me - is your bike a puppy killer?
no, its a fresh 2008 fuji track. as it's only 2 months old i thought it was bit soon for the BB to be going but maybe the knock had loosed something.
I would take it to a shop but i'd like to try sort it out myself first...thanks for the advice guys

hello all, my new bike and i enjoyed our first fall together on monday thanks to a zero warning left turner on green lanes, at first it seemed like the only damage was grazed handlebar tape but i've now noticed a clicking sound that seems to happen every 5 or 6 pedal revolutions coming from the bottom bracket. I don't really see how the fall would have caused it but just wondered if anyone had experienced something similar? cheers

had mine about a month fixed, there is toe overlap but there will be on any track bike. its an awesome bike though, so solid and light. i think youve made the right decision on the bike but the size is up to you, i use it to ride on roads about 6/10 miles a day and it feels comfy.
one thing to do is definitely change the gearing, im still on the 48/15 which im kind of enjoying as i feel like its training me a bit, but at times if you are tired its a bit of effort to get home so im chainging it to 48/18.
oh and the tyres and tubes are total shit, had so many punctures, change them out. but other than that i love my fuji.
i just made this change, after 3 weeks of 48/15 i put an 18t cog on the back and life is so much better :)
@ van uden: i'm 6ft 4 with long legs and the 61 fits me well but my saddle is quite high so you'll probably be fine with the saddle lower

yeah red knightmare 48 x 18 is pretty popular on here, 48 x 17 might suit you. your knees won't be thanking you for that 15t after a while. to each man his own though.
i've had knee problems in the past so it might be an idea to lower my gearing then. it runs so nicley though...don't wanna fuck it up!

that's a BIG gear. in fact, it's in the mid-80's. massive.
it seems perfect for going downhill, i can go fast but i feel in control. the uphills are ok as long as they're not too steep! i'm sure this topic has been well covered on here, but how much difference would it make to go with a 16 or 17t cog?

after much reading of this site and a few questions i recently became the proud owner of a 2008 track, so thanks to all for the great advice. as it's my first fixed i can't say if it's any better or worse than the 2007 but i love it, it's really quick. the gearing is 48/15 which seems a bit high but that could just be my low fitness levels and weak legs! i'll give it a while before changing anything i think

hi chris,
i'm 6'4" with long legs so i'm looking at 61cm i reckon, just having trouble finding anything to test ride, evans told me if they ordered anything in specially for me i'd have to buy it which isn't ideal! budget of £400 - £450 tops so i was thinking a fuji track with a couple of improvements could be a good starter. If you have anything else though i'd be well up for taking a look. cheers
i have a 61cm 07 pista that im debating selling... basicly it stock with a front break, and i'll put some pedals with cages and straps on it, picked it up october as winter ride, so its seen a few miles, wont be back in the uk for a few weeks, and not sure if it going to be sold or become a polo bike... either way you would be welcome to take it for a test ride. im 6ft 6 and it fits decently.
Cheers Chris, i may have something in a few weeks but if not that would be great...evans have a 59 pista built up so hopefully by process of elimination i'll know if that's too small the 61 will be ok.

@ red whats your budget and size? i might have some thing for you...
weird, i was about to go down and look at one these tonight...perhaps i won't bother now. the pull of £240 was strong, perhaps it'd be money better spent to stump up the cash for an off the peg as a first fixie? i've been looking into getting one for about 6 weeks now and just can't decide what to get, i read conflicting advice everywhere and have real trouble test riding anything as i'm massively tall and no one has anything!!

hello,
as a mountain bike rider about to get his first single speed, i wanna make sure i get a decent one but can't spend much more than £450ish. I was recommended the fillmore as the best for the cash but have since been told the cranks and bottom bracket are a bit rubbish. Does anyone know any more about this? And can anyone explain the limitations of the cro moly frame?
cheers
great, thanks very much. i'll take a look at those
