RSH also give you loyalty points every time you buy a ticket through them, which means two lots of discount when combined with the Tesco vouchers. You can also choose to print the tickets out at any station in the UK, rather than have them posted if you're in a rush.

Also, re: booking cycle reservations, if you're travelling off-peak RSH will quite often tell you that reservations aren't available for that journey, when it actually means that that reservations aren't required. The booking system's not sophisticated enough to differentiate. So always double-check on the operators own website first if you even need a reservation.

RedSpottedHanky gives you cheap fares, lets you book cycle reservations at same time, and posts tickets out first class for free. Plus you can exchange Tesco clubcard points for discounts - I've had £150 worth of free train travel out of them so far this year.

Nokon and Alligator can both be tricky to get spares for. If you find somewhere that has the liners is stock then buy extra while you can. I've seen a noticeable improvement in braking over regular cables using nokon on several different bikes, but haven't tried my Alligator set-up yet (bought cheaps from China off eBay). In terms of quality of the actual pieces, Alligator seem better overall to me, the paint finish on my white nokon is cheap and nasty but my black nokon looks ok. The instructions that both systems provide for setting up the links and using the right connectors are next to useless, the nokon guide is particularly bad (bizarre translations, unhelpful pics), watching installation vids on youtube is more helpful.

Yep, loathe my current job and housemates, and so why not. About to hand my notice in at work, so will still be living here until 9th/10th June. When is the tap out?

Mains at the Diner are kinda pricey, but the sides like pancake stacks, chocolate/peanut butter milkshake, and chilli fries are cheap and dreamy. Got inspired by a breakfast visit last week so I had a go at buttermilk raisin pancakes, went nicely with some syrup and salted pistachios.

I've given it up for now. Polo bike is now road-geared beater. Will see what the polo situation is in Oxford, might be tempted back to playing in time.

I've got two complete mallets to freecycle:
1) Yellow gas pipe head with massive cheater cut-outs. Head is pretty worn, but has life left in it yet. Pole and grip are good.
2) Black gas pipe head with no cut outs. New, with a perro pole. Would benefit from the head being reattached with the Jol method tho 'cos its a bit wobbly at the moment.

Priority goes to newbies who don't have their own stuff yet, can drop off at Peckham or Newt this week, let me know if you wants one/both.

I'm selling my little road frame if any ladies are interested? The TT is 51.5 cm (centre-to-centre), and its super lightweight alu. Wasted hanging on the wall, needs a new owner.
