Me!! you should have said hi
I probably couldn't have spoken even if I'd tried! That was my first time riding a bike through rush hour London at night, I'm fine with it now, but that first go was f'in scary!
Todays spot - guy with blonde dreads on a Colnago, had a LFGSS saddle thing, Waterloo Bridge.

Not sure I like the idea of relying on my wussy legs to tighten up the freewheel! :s I'll bring the wheel along anyway, it'll flag me as the newbie atleast.
@ teenslain - I want to keep the fixed cog that's on there at the moment, I just want to put the freewheel on the other (currently bare) side of the hub, so I can go singlespeed for a while. It's probably the easiest thing in the world, but I'm worried about messing up the threads and/or building a death trap by doing it with trial and error by myself!

Cheeky I know, given I've never met any of you before, but if I bring a wheel with me tomorrow, could someone lend me a chain whip, and show me how to put my freewheel (1/8th) on the hub, in exchange for a pint or two? It's a flip-flop hub, already running fixed on one side, and I want to stick the freewheel on the other side. Thanks

I thought Fietsen Flanders in Oudenaarde was ok, admitedly its a train ride to nowhere from Bruges though (although the cycle museum there might be worth a visit).

Horizontal top tube - I think they look better, and are easier to shoulder when carrying up stairs or on to trains etc. If I want to wear a skirt I can change at the office where I'll be getting out of bike gear anyway. Having said that I did buy a ladies framed bike for commuting, but only because I thought it would be unlikely to get nicked because it's less attractive (to my eyes atleast).

- Peugeot 103 carbolite tubing
- Mixte frame (made 1984)
- 54cm (21”) – but can be set-up to ride smaller/shorter with lower saddle and cross-top levers (have got a pair I will sell if wanted).
- Single speed conversion (ghetto style - still got the 5 sprockets on the rear wheel and double chain ring – have kept all the original components though, so you can easily make it geared again (10 speed)
- Pretty blue colour with original (what looks like) hand-painted gold box lining on frame. Many paint chips though, and sporadic very light surface rust on things like the chainring and rims (no corrision), but could be scrubbed off without much hassle. No dents.
- Polo bike/pub bike for your gf?
£no idea, Pm me a sensible offer? Prefer to sell it whole, but will relist as parts if lingers.
I bought this 2 weeks ago intending it to be my cheapo hack commuter, but it’s turned out to be a fraction too small to be comfortable, so having replaced the broken things and done a quick/dirty ss conversion its for sale.
Things I replaced:
- Brakes levers, brake cables and bar tape (new Tektro levers fitted and cabled by LBS yesterday)
- Tubes and tyres (2 x new 27 x 11/4” Continental Ultrasports)
- Chain (new 3/32”)
- (The stem was also greased and refitted by LBS).
I'm also going to take the spoke dish/pie plate and reflectors off it.
The Brooks saddle is not included, but I can put the original Peugeot ladies one back on if wanted. It could definitely benefit from new brake blocks (it’s got the original Peugeot ones at the moment), but otherwise it’s ready to ride.
View/pick up from Herne Hill, or could arrange meet up.

Thanks Skully, I thought alu might be the way to go, the plastic 700c ones I've tried (unsuprisingly) just can't be wrestled into the right shape.
Just wanted to add a thumbs up for wiggle on the 27" tyres too though - I ordered them yesterday afternoon (with £5 discount, making them cheaper than SJS) and they've just turned up on my desk a second ago, using the free postage option.

SJS do 27" (630) rims and tyres:
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/category-27-rim-(630)-170.htm
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/category-27-(630)-203.htmWiggle also have a few cheap 27 x 1 1/4 tyres in stock (I bought some yesterday). I'd be interested to hear if anyone sells full mudguards for 27" wheels still though, because the 700c ones never fit without rubbing the tyre.
