I’m not really sure. It just annoys me. I always want stack height minimised (on everything) and Tailfin’s seems slightly excessive.

I meant the stack height of the V-mount system that Tailfin uses. It’s the only annoying thing about it.

I’ve used a magtank, which I thought was great. The rubberised material on the bottom and the strap which you can cinch around the top tube make it almost as good as the tailfin but it still requires a steerer strap or bungee.

The tailfin system is just better. It does give the bag a slightly higher stack height which I don’t like but it’s more robust and can be removed more quickly and the rubber straps it comes with can be used for other purposes when you don’t have the bag mounted.

Yes it does. It asks for high strength, but I have some medium here so I’ll use that when installing replacement bearings.

Been trying…not budging.

Is there a smarter way or do I need to buy a blind puller and slide hammer? I’m not even sure that would generate enough force. I think it needs pressure from a vice or similar.

I can do that, but the problem is that the linkage doesn’t have a flat surface to rest on for the twatting. Same for the vice, which is what I used to easily extract the others.

The bearings are installed with retaining compound, so they are hard to break free before tapping out.

How would you remove this bearing? I have used sockets to get the others out easily enough, but this one doesn’t have a flat surface to use a socket or press.

I know that blind bearing puller and a slide hammer is probably the answer, but I don’t want to have to buy those for this one job.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. I’ve also heard people say if the chainrings, chain and cassette have worn together, then once it’s gone beyond .75 you may as well run them into the ground.

Will riding a new chain on a cassette that previously had an old chain measuring >.75 on a checker cause premature wear? Or as long as it shifts OK, is it fine to use?

Could someone please watch this and let me know if it’s worth half an hour of my life?
