That must have literally been a blast! The peripherique is an odd road anyway, sort of like an urban track. Remember all the Black Prince footage on his GSXR1100?
The turbos can lull you into a false sense of security. They spool up gently and progressively if you accelerate smoothly but if you put your foot down it's Jekyll and Hyde! The whole engine note changes from a rumble to a roar and you get an almighty kick in the pants :)

@b&d and @BRM - thank you! I believe she's the lowest mileage Ghibli II on the road in the UK. I've been very fastidious over getting her up to spec. Nothing left to do now except for a couple of small paintwork bits. Should be going to Brands Festival Italia :)

I used this guy for rust-proofing the Ghibli and he was massively thorough:

It's a father and son team, Dad worked at Rolls Royce for decades. They're a bit tucked away and often busy but great attention to detail.

In.
Farage, Boris, Murdoch et al want us out for a number of spurious reasons such as "we need to take back control", so we'd trust the likes of them to pass this new magical control to us the people if we vote out? Pfffttttttt.
We're so much better off staying in and being even more Britishly irritating than ever before in an attempt to change the EU for the better.

Picked up the Ghibli Biturbo yesterday from the rust prevention guy to drive it to the detailing guy. Another 3 hour drive of bliss. Second drive so had a bit more confidence. It's like traction control managed by your right foot.
Clear open dual carriageway in front of me so put my foot down. The V6 rumble turned into a pronounced roar as the turbos spooled up and the whole car leapt into fast-forward. Almost immediately the cars that had been some way ahead were looming up so I backed off sharpish. There was a big silly grin on my face and my pants were full :)

@b&d @Hefty it was heaven. Three hours of a A and B road nirvana! I can't get over how smooth she is and the power is deceptive. You have to keep an eye on the turbos spooling up.
I'm getting to know the car so was feather light on the accelerator but even so - flippin' 'eck!
Plenty of pics to come once the detailing has been done! Bellissima! :D

Just got tickets for Auto Italia at Brooklands end of the month, very excited but will be going in Herman the German as the Ghibli won't quite be ready yet.
End of the month it should be finished then off for rustproofing then off for paint correction and detailing. Then pictures. Then all set for Goodwood :)

With the launch of the new Explorer (with lume in numerals and slightly longer minute hand) the 'step change' Explorer with solid white gold numerals and shorter minute hand is set to become a future classic.
Why? Partly because of its quirks but also with the launch of the update the very first (and original 39mm case) 214270 wasn't around for long in comparison to other variants. Just 5 years, which for the classic Explorer line is nothing.
How is everyone? Anyone still around from ‘back in the day’?!
😊
