fatbloke
SküllheadWilderness I notice you've got OpenPros on there... were the original rims 700c as well?
You've reused the original front hub I think - what is it?Front wheel is what it came with - 700c old-skool Mavic rim on a Racelite hub. It had a Campag qr skewer, etc, but swapped that out for something non-nickable. Not sure if that's what it was built up with 42 years ago - I've only had it for the last fifteen years, since I was eighteen!
But where are the mudguards?! ;)
I have a dull, dark green Langster for when it rains. Pretty bike only comes out in the dry. I am a ponce, I admit. But fuck, it rides nicely - the rest of my 'collection' is feeling a bit neglected.
Nice hub. Is that like Airlite, by British Hub Co.? OK I didn't really look at the picture, so the front rim's still the old one. I have been pissing about with 27" wheels recently - I'm glad for your sake you've got 700c. There's no rims around and hardly any decent tyres to be had.
No you wouldn't want to put mudgurads on that beaut. I was only being cheeky. Not at all poncy, if you have a 'hack' too. I'll say hullo if you see you about on that...

Hi wink. Sorry, that was a bit lairy of me. But your bike invites comment, no? If you wanted to blend in, you would have bought something black.
Aidan not sure who else I offended. I will try and be a bit more respectful in future with people who are friends of yours (or each other). Do you want my dinner money as well?

Nice work fatbloke. I think the paint looks in wonderful nick in your photos. I've recently finished a '61 Claud Butler 5 speed to fixie conversion - mines a more chipped than this but like you say, 'patina' is all good.

dogsballs tommy, what's the BB and chainset like on that. looking for something vintage. yes, i know the perils of cotterpins, but with a 1950's bike there's no other way. :(
Hi dogsballs
The Italian guy (rough sleeper?) who rides around a crazy two-bike catamaran thing and fixes peoples bikes has a good-ish williams crank and chainring from about that era. Worth asking if you see him. -

teenslain
le car my main worry is the brakeless backlash. It's gonna happen when people actually realise what is going on on their streets and we're going to be labeled murderers...
I agree with that, still think peoples are nuts driving brakeless but that's probably just me showin' up my crap skillz... Hasn't the whole pisto scene in Tokyo seen the backlash already? I hear there've been a lot of accidents getting a lot of media exposure out there...
Re: Original point... Who cares?
The moral panic about bikes seems to me to be abating a bit, doesn't it? Maybe cos there's less of us on the road now its coooooold. Brrrr. I hope to Dog the Standard don't start a brakegate panic.

Is there anything (besides your weight) holding bromptons open? Can they close up if you get air off a speed bump?
Yes! I've seen a middle aged dude in a suit getting 'air' bumping up a smallish kerb and it folded underneath. Scary. He looked calm enough though, perhaps he knew he was the vanguard of the Next big Thing on the streets. Coming soon... freestyle fg folder gangs doing chainring grinds on those Horeditch benches. Cool people will think its stupid, which is cool... Stupid people will think its cool, which is also cool...
Seriously though why not just have QR thingy that allows them be to locked open?! And lose the rubber bushing. I don't get that.

This news really really scares me... the police are now the fences. Not even funny.
