you were robbed
seeing it sell for that price nearly reduced me to tears. It's not a massive amount more than I splashed on my old (not in the best shape, but ok) road frame that I've used for my conversion. If I knew then what I know now...wouldn't have gone to BLB for a start! I love my bike, but seriously. I'll just take solace in the knowledge I've got some parts pretty cheap so it's not too bad (must keep telling myself that).

about 9.10 this morning saw a chap on a light blue emien (sp?) with white deep v's next to Euston fire station. my lip reading isn't the best but from where I was I'm sure the guy next to him said "No brakes?" (in a friendly looking way - not a hater). I was then passed by the same dude on Woburn place at the lights as he nicely wove his way through traffic.

Ha! You should see how much they charge for Settlement. £750 by post (6-8 weeks) or £950 (same day) AND you get to be treated like shit for 5 hours for the privilege. Not a "value for money" experience.
i'll add my +1 to this. I hate the home office. I'm married to a lovely American and in order to get married she had to first get a fiancée visa, then a marriage visa, then after 2 years an indefinite leave to remind visa, all of which has cost us well over a grand. and not only do they charge you a stupid amount but you also get treated like a criminal and there's not much you can do about it.
did you have to pay a visit to the lovely home office place in Croydon? going there was one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life. we were there for 7 hours.
I also hate banks. Incompetent bastards.

I've got a Giro Monza which is alright, not too bulky with decent enough airflow. the black one is currently on sale on the evans website for £30. I'd recommend going into a store to get your size checked and then ordering online if it's cheaper - best not to buy online blind as every make seems to have a different fit and you don't want it falling off!

I'm after a frame and forks (or complete bike) of the ladies variety to build up for the Mrs. I am desperately trying to get her more interested in bikes and figured that a little build project would be good to do together and would also help educate me (I'm still very new to builds).
Anyway, does anyone have a ladies road bike or frame that would be good for a conversion to SS? I remember seeing one on the forum ages ago (it was bright orange) that looked pretty nice. Ideally, I'm after something pretty cheap as money is short.
Also, while I'm here we're probably going to be selling her Dutch bike as soon as I get a replacement lined up for her, £215 (without the basket - she wants to keep that), any takers? It's a unisex 3 speed (hub geared) Dutch bike with a back kick brake (+ normal front brake), mud guards and chain cover for grime free riding, dynamo lights. It's only been ridden for about 20 miles! Only selling as it is a bit on the heavy side for her and she struggles on hills with it, which isn't too good now we live in Cricklewood. And she can't easily carry it up the stairs to our flat, which is a problem when I'm not in.
Cheers,

first my bike and then me. This is my first fixed gear bike and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I've got got a few bits that will be getting changed (saddle, stem, bars) but I've used what I had lying around to try to get myself up and running as quickly as possible and I think it looks pretty nice. I've never really ridden fixed before and it's certainly a lot of fun. Can't skid yet, but my stopping is getting better which is nice.
If you see me around feel free to say hello.

thanks for the advice man. I'm not convinced if I should have a go yet or not, but if / when I do you'll have really helped, so thanks.
