Everything makes sense now. I opened my door and told my brother to keep the noise down. Thought he was really going for it!
Did it mean anyone was caught doing things they shouldn't have been doing?
I cite as an example:In 2002, there was an earthquake near Dudley, that day, I had taken up lodgings in Birminham with a woman who was renting a spare room. It was the Sunday before her daughter went back to uni. Knidly, she offered to show me the local boozer that evening. After far too many drinks we made it back to the house and both of us mysteriously ended up in my bed. The earthquake followed. We were too pissed to even register it but the mum got up to check everything was OK.She found her daughters room empty and the new male lodgers room full. I was rudely awaken at 6a.m and told to get my stuff and be the fsck out of her house before she got back from work. It was not an ideal start but ensures I will remember the earthquake in years to come.

The mexican is still there but I don't rate the joint as the nachos were below par. Any place that calls itself a mexican and can't serve a proper plate of nachos get struck off my list.
Anyone been to Los Guadales on Stroud Green Rd? it is Colombian which seems to be short hand for huge portions of meat and not much else. Probably not a recommendation for the veggies.

I notice a few stokie comments here but no shout out for the cafe in Clissold park. From the Finsbury Park outpost:
Sinbads, £4, ask for 'a mix' and you get an awesome plate of lebanese food.
Arsenal Cafe - The Arsenal Breakfast is a thing for real men only.
(both on blackstock rd)The bagel bakery on Seven sisters Rd at FP wastes the Brick lane one. Onion bagel with salmon and cram cheese rules.

provenrad: "Did you know that the population of Mecca is actually greater than Riyadh the capital of Saudi Arabia?
I know. like, wow."- I would lke you to be more specific; is that during the annual Hajj pilgrimage (5th of 5 pillars in Islam and a once in a lifetime obligation for all good Muslims) to mecca, or at all times?
- How do you quote someone? I copied and pasted instead of getting the above in nice yellow bits.

Kipsy / Jonny, I'n not prepared to make my new '08 condor squadra into a fixer just yet, have a few miles to ride before then! Merc is what I have just replaced ergo, a strip and convert seemed the best idea. In the quote from Kiwi, the wheels were the things pushing the cost up as I was under the impression that unless you have rear facing dropouts then the there isn't much scope for getting good chain tension - not the case? Hippy says half link instead...

Tommy, It's not that I'm not interested, it is more to do with a paucity of practical ability! Sorry hippy, couldn't tell you width off hand. Hadn't thought too much about stealability, bike is inside at work. What I want is to be able to crash about in traffic and be confident in the bike bouncing about with no complaints...

Hi all,
I'm am new to the forum and looking to make a graceful entry into the fixer world. I have a lovely Condor to ride at weekends, but get scared thrashing it through a commute. I am therefore resolved to fix me a fixer to do the job. I have a really beautiful Mercian frame to convert (not too dissimilar to this: http://www.merciancycles.com/frame_audax.asp ). There is not a lot of room to play with on the dropouts (ENO hubs solve the problem?) and would need everything overhauling. I think I could get the very helpful bloke at Kiwi cycles to do the lot for about £600. Would you do this or go to the market place and bag an off the peg number? If so what? - I am thinking perhps a charge plug / Genisi flyer / Kona paddy wagon. Any advice really appreciated.
Cheers
Joe
Hi everyone,
it seems to be the decent thing to introduce yourself to the assembled forum masses. I joined back in November sniffing about looking for some advice which was gratefully recieved. My decision to convert the frame that you can see below led me the door of Mr Dogsballs to buy some wheels. He took me under his kindly wing and created a fine machine. A big thank you Dale. A day before my bike was deemed road worthy, I broke my leg on the first day of a skiing trip. This rather arsed up all of xmas, new yr and the next two months sitting at home in a full leg cast doing nothing. Reading the banter on here can, as you all know, can occupy vast tracts of time. For this, I offer a collective thanks for diverting me. I was given the all clear on fri. I am liping back into action and the Mercain will be on the road shortly.
So, hello. Here is me, Joe (and the lovely H) and my bike. I'll hopefully see a few of you about.
