Morning all,
I would like to plan out some rides and also be able to retrace my steps to see how far a given route is. Can anyone recommend a good site to do this? I know you can get google / multimap directions that give distance but this isn't great for bike rides.
Also, anyone thought about investing in a bike specific GPS? I quite like the idea of having a tour guide in front of me to show the way but the ones with proper on screen maps seem quite pricey and you have to buy add on map software depending on where you want to ride. Any experiences?

I should like to direct your attention to: http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com which will provide you with hours of snack browsing enjoyment. Go to the biscuit of the week reviews to occupy the next twenty mins without any problems. Feel free to quote your favourites.
I rather like:
"Bourbons are also reassuringly uniform in size regardless of the manufacturer. Perhaps Bourbon biscuits could form the basis of an SI unit of measurement, with biscuits being measured in Bourbons e.g. the digestive has a diameter of 1.13 bourbons, or that ocean liner is 7.6 kilobourbons long, or wavelength of light emitted by that Argon/Krypton laser is 46.1 nanobourbons. I'm sure you see what I'm getting at."

OK, so I've ridden a couple of laps round the stadium on my way home (Mmmmmmm half day) and it all looks fine. They have even been so good as to scatter salt about in he even of it being a little icy underfoot. There are plenty of cameras but that is to be expected given the location. The Drayton Park pub would be a fine meeting point with big windows to keep an eye on bikes but not many places to lock up to. it seems the real variable is how tight the evening security is. It remains to be seen that if people start whizzing around will they be quick to issue requests to move on / "clear off berfore I call the police"

There will prob be a bod in an office dozing infront of his cctv. However, Ive walked thorugh in the evening beofore and there have been people wandering about, kids playing football etc. it all seemed pretty relaxed. Not sure how many people you would need to cause difficulties but it is not like it would be a monster gathering or causing aggro. The pub next to Drayton Pk station is a good meeting point then you can roll over the pedestrianised bridge to the stadium. The whole area is car free and open to the public.

What about laps round the outside of the Emirates stadium? Smooth surface, absolutely no cars, nice and wide, well lit, no obstacles. Oddly, I was thinking about this when I walked through the other day. What's not to like? Not even a huge security presence in the evenings as kids hang about there, skateboard etc.

Hi all,
so, I got me a turbo trainer to spin along on and pretend to get fit. I did 45 mins on Monday night and 1hr last night. Pretty much a warm up followed by steady state stuff as I've been off the bike for a while. After last night, I got off and my baby making gear was positivly numb / tingling. Not good. I was riding in a pair of padded shorts. My question therefore is whether anything should be set up differnently for a turbo session or if I just need a not so cheap and nasty saddle? Do I need to think about riding position? Also, any pointers for session structure welcome.
Thanks
Joe. -

Maybe try these guys, they don't list them as stock but they seem to have most other Creek stuff at good prices ( I just picked up a pair of TT levers from them at half the cost of Wiggle) so might have them or be able to get them for you.

bigger pics. I'm undecided about the pedals. After (gasp with suprise) searching the threads about pedals, the split seems to be between time and toe clips. I have Speedplays on my 'proper' road bike and think that they are awesome. However, the cleats are pretty big so walking is a pain.
The split seems to me to be:
Time wins on efficency, ease of engagement and release in emergency but more £ for pedals and shoes
Toeclips = no extra shoes - a bonus when out and about in for cruising & not exactly the end of the world for commuting. The jury remains out, further comments welcome.
Sorry, lazyiness prevailed. Posting before searching. Bad. All Info available.
