"Thing is, he had his coat, bag and helmet next to him on the floor..."
Surely this is not a bike thief. Might be fine as a decoy to you, but if the owner turns up, how is he going to leg it with his stuff lying around. He'll end up getting twatted a la Grandeanse ^up there & losing his 'decoy' stuff.
I vote genuine.

My 2p.
I've ridden the same bike through town for the last year. Pretty much half SS & half fixed (with same brakes). I average almost exactly the same time fixed as I did SS, though I have been fastest fixed.
I doubt the same rider would have any noticeable speed difference round a corner. I think the assumption that pedalling buggers up balance is wrong - for an experienced fixed rider 20mph is easily acheived spinning smoothly. -
I voted for Sian (and various greens) too, but gave Boris my 2nd pref. I don't doubt Ken loves London, but he was coming to think of himself a president & not giving a shit about what anyone else thought.
I reckon (hope) Boris might surprise a few people. You never know.Hopefully he won't give all our cash to his mates either.

I suppose the reason why it deserves some praise is that adequate, let alone good, customer serviceis seen as an exception rather than the norm. Not a great world to live in perhaps, merely one of the negative outcomes of short term, flawed, capitalist approach to running a business.
Agree with the first part.
But surely the capitalist approach should mean that those with crap service lose custom as they can go elsewhere? Pre Credit Crunch(TM) there was too much £$£ swilling around so (generally) companies didn't need to worry about pissing off customers as ther was always another round the corner. I think we will see very different & improved levels of service appearing as retailers realise they need to outperform expectations in order to keep customers.

tooting bec to cleveland street (balham high street, clapham common, wandsworth, chelsea bridge, sloane square, hyde park, mortimer street). 34 minutes.
i think i can probably get it down to 30 if i push it.always faster on the way to work. coming back is a bugger.
I'll look out for you when I'm back in the saddle. Me: Balham to Primrose Hill - that route + an extra bit on the canal. PB = 30mins & 6 secs.
Those 6 seconds really fucked me off.

ME! Back out on the bike for the first time in a month after shoulder surgery. Mostly riding very slowly & one-handed. BUT RIDING! Woot!
