the one thing i don't understand is why would you shell out the extra $1500 just to have a (smaller) solid state memry when it doesn't apparently affect the size/weight of the machine? other than that the air looks great, nice n small but without sacrificing the interface, and even though it has no internal cd/dvd drive, the external superdrive is cheap, and if you have wi-fi access to another computer, you can simply use that one! brilliant. too bad i just bought a new macbook... anyone have a dog that would sit on my computer? (sounds weird but that's how my last two went...)

reload backpacks are the best. sorry scott, haven't seen one of yours. reload is nice and narrow, so it doesn't hamper you ability to fit in narrow apces, but is tall enough to carry loads of stuff, they are tough as nails, super comfy, look good, etc, etc. great bags, i've had one for 3 years, which i bought used from a mate in boston (he'd had it for a year or so). fits laptops really well, and is the perfect size for daily stuff, but will cram full if oyu wanna take it on a trip, you could probably live out of it for a week or so. go for the midpack they're ace.
-edit-
oh, and freight baggage are really good too, liots of space but has cinch straps to make it smaller, though they're a little on the wide side. go with the 'small' size with them. -
easier maths (though less info revealed):
divide chainring teeth by sprocket teeth.
your ratio - 46:16 = 2.875, your pedal one revolution, your wheel moves 2.875 revolutions. smaller end result means easier to pedal.
46:17 is nice.
as a side note, if you can get prime numbers into the mix you get more skid spots. -

eggpie I love that bike. Doesnt he go to MIT or something though. SCUL rock. The other people Id check out are Chunk:
http://dclxvi.org/chunk/tech/tall/index.html
( Ijust came across this old picture of a tall bike on their site..)I think Will told me the tall bike tour bikes were built by Rat Patrol. They were deliberately longer for hill climbing, load carrying and general out of town touring.
Ive been wanting to build a tall bike for awhile. And a new chopper. I just havent had the time/space. However, my new place is temptingly right next to victoria park for test rides, so it might have to be my next project. Tall bike jousting it is...
nope, mars doesn't go to/never went to mit, though he does work there in some capacity. his other chopper is even better. a karate monkey frame with 8 or 9 foot long forks and a set of speakers on them, in awesome homemade boxes. good lighting effects too. soo good.

have you seen/heard of these guys? boston based chopper/mutant bike group. lots of fun.

hello all, happy new year!
so... it turns out that i spent way too much on presents for friends and family for the holidays, and i need to make some back. i built this bike about 8 months ago to use a daily ride, and definitely enjoyed it, but i've got others. so here she goes:black iro mark v frameset 53cm
stronglight crankset w/46t c-ring, 17t eai cog, kmc chain, mks tensioner
formula hubs (silver but painted over in clear red) laced w/black dt competition spokes to cosmic blue open pros 32h. 3x rear, radial with a twist front.
suntour xc pro pedals, mks cages, toshi black single straps
bontrager seatpost w/san marco rolls due saddle
un53 bb, no-name headset/risers, bbb stem, champs grips, no brakea few other things about it. i cut/filed off the rear brake braze ons and painted over the iro logo. also, there is a 5p coin sized dent in the rear rim, which happened when i brought these wheels over from the us. the wheels were new when i packed them, but i have relaced them since. they have never been braked on. please note that the saddle that is not the same as the one in the image. i'm asking 400 obo. thanks for looking!

building a new wheelset, but am torn between getting a single sided or a double fixed rear hub. go for function and have a backup set of threads, or go for aesthetics and have a nice clean single sided. they're phils, so it's supposed to be a functional wheelset... hmmm, decisions, decisions. thoughts?
