Hello all;
Not too many posts on here, but recent circumstances call for abandoning my lurker status. My mate luke just had his Bob Jackson stolen; he's not really on here, but some of you may know him anyway (he worked behind the bar at Duke of York over summer / been riding fixed for about a year now).
His bob J was stolen from outside UCL (Euston Sq. Tube) on saturday (21/3) night.
current setup:
Black BJ
H+son front
brookes
Blue Tange oldschool grips (pretty rare i guess)
Duct-taped rear disk (tho that would probably be the first thing to go).Sorry about the quality:
I'm gonna go try put his number in the numbers thread.
Big thanks to anyone that has any info - better still reward for whoever can recover it.
Cheers -
That's really clean looking... though watch out for those little cable tabs on the toptube; on mine (dunno about others) they are really cheaply forged/stamped and are really sharp.
totally fucked a new pair of jeans on them the other week... my boy duct tape is now holding down the situation... (on both jeans and toptube) -
I just finished converting one as a beater - its not bad at all, and really not that heavy once you've stripped all the stuff off it.
word of warning though; the drive-side rear dropout is deceptively short. As in, there's not alot of room to pull back the wheel / tension the chain. Weirdly there's loads of room on the non-drive side dropout... I dunno why they put 2 different length dropouts on them.
So look into magic gear ratios; or half link chains (how i did mine). -

sometimes theres a few people down east street market...other than than that I can't think of anywhere other than BL really.
Had a look for you a couple of times down southbank tonight- thought that maybe if they had already sold it, some silly fucker might be out riding... no luck, but ran into Mick and spread the word...
I'll def try and make it down sunday morning to brick lane with you. -

apologies - have been lurking for an awfully long time...
I'm on 1st yr fine art at CSM... was on foundation at chelsea last year so am familiar with a few of the faces (davey + adam, as well as some other confessed lurkers)
anyway, this looks sweet - i'd be down to help in whatever way at CSM charring x (though by the sounds of it you've got alex on that)... -

I've got some Gran Compe hubs; and want to get a set of sugino RDs for a new build.
I've had a look through the transmission database, but cant seem to find a similar setup.
What length / type of BB would i need to run RDs with the gran compe's 42mm chainline?
I dunno what difference sprocket type makes; but I'll probably be getting DA as it seems sort of the standard.cheers in advance of any help...

Now that summer's rolling in I'm looking to build up something geared. I have a 1950s holdsworth monsoon, but its a tad long (57cm top tube) and I want something designed for 700cs and a tad more modern - for part-sourcing convenience and compatibility sake.
Seen a few frames on here recently, namely the '80s Gazelle AB frame that was on last week or so (had no funds at the time), but I have cash waiting now.
Ideally something european (but not too fused), 80s or early nineties lugged steel. Has to be designed for 700cs.
Something 55/56 c-t-c Seat and 55-56 c-t-c top tube.
And hoping to pay in the region of £80-150 (but might stretch a bit higher).
cheers.
