Just read the question from the guy in Bangkok and wondered how many people on here are living outside of london.
I'm from west yorkshire, as you can imagine there's not much of a scene up here, I usually check londonfgss a couple of times a day. might send down some wyfg spokecards if there's a demand.,

I've had the cheapo beaters on mine for about 3 months now, no problems as yet but they do seem a bit flimsy. Wish i'd gone for the stainless versions. MTB forums also seem to agree that the cheap ones are prone to snapping. I also worry that they're allen-key only (can't use pedal spanner to remove) so if you round the allen hole, you're stuffed. That said, they do look ace and they're piss easy to clip in/out.
I need recommendations.
I'm Converting an old peugeot road frame, figured i'd get the rear wheel sorted out first, then look at the BB for chainline etc.
The rear dropouts are roughly 24mm and I'm hoping to use a 28 spoke rim i've already got.
Suggestions for what hub to use, preferably not too expensive? The bike won't be getting too much hammer so the hub doesn't need to be totally bombproof, fixed/fixed or fixed/free.
I'd also planned to build the wheel myself, my first go at wheel-building.. what spoke pattern would anyone recommend, i know 28 spoke is not ideal for rear wheel.
thanks in advance for any advice.
