soo.? win?
lost, dammit.
realised about the converter (thanks george!) and bid lower than would have otherwise... ah well, win some, lose some (although mostly lose some at the moment)
And also, surely the track adaptor is a pointless device in terms of lockring, as the whole device just screws on normally anyway - so the reverse thread for a lockring is totally pointless? Or am I missing something? its just a very expensive re-spacer...

"
Biopace and Fixed Gear
People are often astonished to learn that I ride Biopace chainrings on fixed-gear bikes. They imagine that there will be tremendous changes in chain tension as the chainring rotates. In practice, this is not the case. A 42 tooth chainring will generally engage 21 teeth against 21 chain rollers, regardless of its shape. There is a slight variation in tension resulting from the varying angle between the two straight runs of chain as the axis of the chainring rotates, but this has not generally been of a sufficient magnitude to cause any problem in practice for me."
but i'm still not risking it

As everyone has said - great ride, was an amazing laugh to be out and tweeded (is that a word) with so many other cyclists....
And a big thanks to all those who helped me in my rather drunken state fix a puncture at about 3 or 4 am whilst still in tweed, passing through brick lane! All the help (and the inner tube) was much appreciated, cheers! and good to meet all of you throughout the day
