Went to take the seatpost out of a beater frame I've had for a while, and its got a fucking 5 sided allen key bolt.
Does anyone have any clue if the tools for these are available, or even better, they have one lying around? It looked about 5 or 6mm... I'm still in shock, I've never seen such a thing

The BB30 system requires special frames with a larger BB shell, so that the external BB system can work. So you could get an adapter for a BB30 frame to use a normal BB, but not the other way round.
I nearly made the same mistake.
Nice bit of kit for a good price, though... just not very useable for most people

I have some that are 3" rise, know that's not as much as you might be hoping for but these are about as big as they get without looking like clown bars.
They're the ones from this post

haven't used them since then, still at 15. PM if interested

Re doing a template, it wouldn't help that much as long as the perforations for stiches are evenly spaced, and match each side so the leather aligns. The only measurement you actually need is the width of the strip, which you can work out by wrapping a bit of leather round your bars. Then just do a straight line... then make the cuts for stitches about every 1cm evenly spaced.
Having done it, I can safely say the difficult bit is cutting the leather perfectly straight, it has a tendency to shift while you cut it. I used a stanley knife and a ruler but it wasn't too easy. If you can get something to grip the leather and hold it taut that would help.

Slightly late to reply, but in the interests of a complete thread...
yeah I did the stitched method. It's quite difficult to do neatly, and you need to shell out on nice thick thread (harder than you think to find). The trick is to get thick leather, and to cut the shape out perfectly so that it stretches to just cover the bars. And pre-cut all the little holes for the thread. That's the hardest bit, actually. Then follow a cross-stitch pattern, using two needles, and stitch up to perfection... I got the leather for free by asking for off-cuts in a shop near Brick lane. I re-did it another time, but couldn't be arsed with the effort so bought a premade kit from freshtripe. slightly better results, but less satisfying.
Now that's off my chest. Carry on...

My freshly bought goldtec front hub has no nuts. Having been told that the nuts that come from Goldtec are shit (and they never answer emails etc anyway, I'm still waiting for a reply about a silver rear), is there anywhere else where I can get these, or a equivalent, from?
Or if anyone wants to sell me their spares, that would be even better.
Of course, I've been UTFS-ing for a while but no luck, and google hasn't been much use either.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Andy

Out of interest, did you buy the single rim from somewhere round here or buy the wheel built up? I had one go missing in the mail when I was living in Mile end about 18months ago. Got refunded from ebay seller so not bothered, but just wondered... I always thought what would happen to one campag mexico 68 rim, they aren't exactly common
