The taper on an ISO and JIS axles are different. Basically a Campag chainset will go on less on a Shimano BB and a Shimano chainset will go on further on a Campag BB. Many will say this makes them incompatible but as with many bike parts in practise they can work fine together. The only way I can get the chainline and clearance on my Chameleon SS spot on is by using a Shimano BB. The Centaur cranks take a little bedding in but it all works perfectly with no creaking or loosening.

Thanks Hippy.
Kelvin, intererested to hear you find a 52 short at 5'6"? All bike fit calculators ( generally 0.65 x inseam c-c or 0.67 for c-t )and guidelines seem to point to someone of my height (5'9") riding a frame with a 54cm top tube which to me has always been the most important fitment in a bike. The stem length/height, seat height/position can all be changed but the TT length cannot. The fact the 52 comes with that 54 TT suits as I prefer a smller bike with more standover and a few inches of post.

Hi all. Thanks to bazookaboy (Chris) on STW putting me onto this place. Apparantly I qualify for London by squeezing onto the end of the Central Line (Epping Forest - Loughton)! :-)
Anyway spent all day trawling back through loads of great info on here. Looking to get a 700c fixie for the road, always been a MTBer and sole bike (bar my old '92 Clockwork) is a Chameleon SS as below - ridden it fixed off-road a few times but it's better free'...

Narrowed the choice down to a Fuji Track or Lemond Fillmore. I had a Surly 1x1 once but a build on the Steamroller is going to be silly £'s next to the Fuji which having checked stuff here looks an unbeatable deal, especially the 2008 model. Looks like it comes with better stem etc now - I am thinking eBay the wheels/tyres, chainset and BB and replace with slight up-spec, flip and chop the bars, bung on a Charge Spoon saddle and brown tape, and a Campag chainset as on my old Chameleon.
Does anyone know when the 2008 Tracks will be available and what price?
Are there any braze ons bar the obvious rear cable stops under the top tube?
And size wise at just under 5'9" with 31ish inseam (80cm) the 52 with a 54 tt looks ideal - what do others think?
