It sort of works to remember that (mostly) JIS is Japan (Shimano etc)and ISO is Italian (Campag/Miche etc).
You *can *mix the two - I use a Shimano (JIS) BB on my MTB with a Campag chainset. Many do this without any problems - others claim it puts strain on the crank and can lead to fracture.
The tapers are different profiles though - an ISO crank on a JIS BB will go on a few mm's less.
A JIS crank on an ISO BB will go on a few mm's too far.
Best to keep like for like - to find out what you have pop the two together loosely by hand and it will be obvious whether it goes on too much/little/just right.

You can't have done a forum search! There is so much on this - was looking yesterday.

If it is a bike to be used and not hung on the wall then powder wins hands down every time. If you want the best, shiny showroom look with endless choice of colour blends, lining and fancy finishes it has to be wet paint (Argos). But for a far more durable, everday good value finish it has to be powder.
Any decent local coater should be able to do a frame for around £30 - £40 and the finish will be super durable compared to wet paint.Spoke to Armourtex this week they are super-helpful. £45 for a f&f stripped and coated. That's without a clear coat which is not really necessary (thats's the extra £15 to make £60).

MrSmith said it all.
I had a 1x1 and nice bikes they are too but at the end of the day they are a cheap (to make, not so cheap to buy) basic Taiwanese steel frame. Clever designs and niche marketing like so many bike companies makes them desirable. Surly are part of the (big) QBP group - 'Quality Bicycle Products'.

Looking to post a gallery section in a new 'fixed website' I am working on. Specifically looking for interesting shots with an obvious London/fixed wheel nature.
If anyone has any pics they are proud of and would like to share please email me - will post a credit on there if you would like.

Another old BMXer here - happiest days of my life when BMX *was *life, we rode every day and lived for RoM skatepark every Sunday - days of Marco, Billy Stupple etc. Below is my old first generation Haro Freestyler. Finally had to sell it last year after it lay untouched since the early 80's. Went to a good home as a 'survivor' on the retro BMX forum. Couple of pics of me riding it BITD too - other guy is a young Dave Curry for those who remember him...

Been watching this all week and threw in a bid but I reckon I should have gone a bit higher, seems a bit of a bargain:

Undo the clamp bolt right out, pop a coin in the slot and gently tighten the bolt to push against the coin and widen the opening a little.
