hassanr
horatio The frame is one of BLB's custom(?) cromos. The face is one-of-a-kind custom flesh and beard.
that looks suspiciously like a resprayed iro... check the dropouts and the forks... exactly the same.
Second that...i'd put money on that being a mark v, hope BLB didn't charge you much more than a new one from the Cavo?

Hehe, this could well be true, and to be honest, now you mention it he probably did milk it a bit...however, he had to cut through the shackle twice, as once you're through the first time the 2 halves won't twist or bend, unlike some cheaper d-locks which only lock on one side, so there's no choice but to cut again.
At the end of the day, when you're paying more money for a lock you're essentially just buying yourself more time; if there's some cunt with enough tools and time then you've got no chance.
Bugger.
Sorry, rant over :) -
Ok, so this is slightly off on a tangent, but just wanted to share a rather reassuring lock story...(i'm sorry if this sort of thing has been disucssed before!?)
Anyway, we had a woman come into our shop t'other day moaning about the kryptonite new york d-lock she'd bought (the £60 one); she'd managed to break the key off in the lock, that was the fault of her stupid biffa hands, but she then told us that she had to call a locksmith to come free her bike, and it took him just over 2 hours to cut through the lock with a big ole angle grinder! So, this was a great example to us of how strong they are. I guess if there wasn't half a broken key inside the lock he may have got it open much sooner...but still, bloody fookin strong innit!! Oh, and (as most of you probably know) it comes in the smaller 'pocket-lock' size, although it is twice te price of the more common £35ish one and about 10times heavier. But....bloody fookin strong! Recommended. -
Hmmm...this is a bit nice, not one of the super swank curly ones, but fookin nice nevertheless! Would make for a fun restoration project.
Yep.
Will prob go for decent money though, it is a hetchins after all ;)

Ok, so i've got a rather nice set of wheels for sale...
-Dura-Ace 7600 high flange hubs (32h), double fixed rear, with 1 NJS dura-ace lockring
-Mavic CXP30 rims
-Continental Tempo 22c tubs
-Valve extensions! These are absolutely brand new, never been ridden, the rear hasn't even had a cog screwed on...although they have been fitted into a Dolan frame (hence some blue paint left on the cone locknuts, as in the pic below).
Now, i know tubs aren't everyone's cup of tea, but these are pretty rare these days and would make the perfect set of 'actual' track wheels for 'actual' track riding! Or if you wanna ride em on the street go for it, i mean the tempos are conti's top end tub...they cost like £50 each, so i guess they're gonna be pretty tough?! Hmm. Up to you.
So anyway, the price....well, considering they haven't ever been ridden i guess i'd be looking for £250, but feel free to make offers! Pictures are below NOW...

I find that after a while of being used to skidding, you get used to where to position yourself in order to slow down/stop/show off in a certain distance. And yeah, if you wanna stop quick then just keep your weight back.
Oh, but if it's super wet (as on a certain recent monopoly ride) then skidding sitting down is practically necessary, unless you wanna skid for a mile or so, depending on what tyres you're running of course! -

Anyone been looking at this?

Reckon it's a pretty good deal for £300, dunno if i'd pay £400 though. It's a bit small for me anyway, but it's got some nice bits on there. Ends in about 3hrs! -
I was just in cavendish today...they've not got much in stock (couple of blue mark v's and a couple of black, maybe a couple of angus' lurking?) but they're doing an order in the next couple of days. Just pop in or call up, tell em what you want, and it'll be ordered for you.
Bosh! No hassle. (well unless IRO are out of stock, yikes!) -

velocity boy
I wouldn't run from police. Just be humble and friendly and apologetic.I second this. I know when you get stopped for running a red light, the scheer annoyance of it can make you want to contest and argue, but the fact remains, just bite your tongue and take the ear bashing. At the end of the day, they (the police) just wanna come away from the situation thinking they've upheld the law and taught you a lesson. It's worked for me every time. As Velocity Boy says, be humble and apologise; say you're sorry and that you won't do it again. Oh, and do your best sad face. A lot of police officers can be dicks, but then there are plenty who are actually quite reasonable if you're not a dick to them. So yeah, just keep your cool, you'll probably come off better for it.

Oh.My.Fucking.God!
This is so bad. I mean, to someone who knows nothing, this sort of shit could instill uneccessary stigma towards bike mechanics...i.e. that they're fucking stupid and don't have the first fucking clue about anything?!
This man should be arrested and left in a darkened room, to think about what he's done.

slaytanic1 Hi, just joined on here recently and i've been building my first bike over the last few months. I ended up buying a set of forks too short for my frame (650c chrome columbus fork with campagnolo drop). Does anyone have anything similar but in 700c they might want to trade? Thanks alot.
Hey, i know this was a while ago, but are you still looking to shift the 650c forks? I've got a few sets of 700c forks you could maybe consider?!

Anyone after a nice but cheap road bike?

Looking to build up another fixed and came across this baby on the bay - what do you reckon? Can anybody tell me anything about Merlin frames before I take the plunge. It is 531 so I'm quite hopeful.
Expect that to go for £ssss.
Its a good frame.
note the high bidder right now!
OOOOH! Jesus, i want it, i want it, it's a bit big but i want it!
Ooh, my dad just picked up a Merlin track frame just like this one. They were made by Bob Jackson, but i guess most of you knew that already?! Very nice.

Soweto888 Never mind the Dura Ace hubs, what about the rims, eh? It looks like they've been soaked in pigs' blood or something equally sticky. What are they, Alex? I reckon they look good with the green frame. Those piggies didn't die in vain. Any chance of a photo away from that pink wall, though?
They're actually DT swiss 1.2 rims that i had sprayed up. Exactly the same profile as a Deep V, but made 10 times better...so much easier to build than a Deep V. I'm glad you like! It is a shame about the pink wall i agree, but i'm now away travelling for a year and it's gone into storage...so no pics until i'm back!

Ah har, yes....my departure. I'm flying to Buenos Aires on the 31st; Halloween...will be a spooky flight! So unfortunately i'm not gonna get to ride this tart for another year, as it'll be sitting alone in a storage unit, feeling sorry for itself. Shame. Maybe i'll do the ultimate sad rider thing and put it's picture in my wallet! Hehe. Or maybe not, that's going too far!
Oh, Andy...i've got those CXP30 tub wheels i mentioned ages ago...there's some pix at the end of the 'trade' thread. Spread the word if poss to see if anyone needs 'em! Cheers duder!

This is my newly completed Graham Weigh. It used to belong to Chris Hoy don't ya know! The frame has been sprayed since though, as it was a bit tatty when i got hold of it, plus i managed to get some original decals from Graham Weigh Cycles. Nice. I know some might scold me for respraying an ex Chris Hoy frame, but if it had his name on the top tube i would have left it...but it didn't, so i thought i'd get it looking exactly how i wanted! So there ;)
Everyone needs "SpokeSparx". Yep. -
Got a set of CXP30 tubs/miche primato wheels for sale. These are practically brand new and have hardly been used, and the only use they have seen was on the track, so the rims have never had brakes used on them. Also included is a set of Conti sprinter tyres (orange), a 15t miche cog with lockring, and a set of elasticated conti tyre protectors. Nice. Oh, and they're 32h front and rear. £150 for the pair o.n.o.
that looks suspiciously like a resprayed iro... check the dropouts and the forks... exactly the same.
Second that...i'd put money on that being a mark v, hope BLB didn't charge you much more than a new one from the Cavo?
Nah, Mark Vs have teardrop tubing for the top and down tubes. If it's anything it's an Angus.
It's def a new mark v, this year's model has been changed to round tubes, similar to the angus...although the angus isn't drilled at the back!
