I assume you used the TT bike? I will try and come down to this one night. Did you drive over?
oh and max, spotted your bike yesterday on boyce street.
i think i might need to make a bike more suitable first.
you should get your colleague to go down. his carbon speed machine would fit right in!
i did actually go there with him - pinarello FT1, corima disc & 4 spoke. sick sick set-up. needless to say, he went faster than me...

yeah, used the TT bike. it was the only bike over three years old, and probably the only one not made from carbon. cervelo p2's, pinarello FT's, Issac's etc. just absurd. and most had discs. proper bike envy...
i'm almost certainly going next week, but i don't think there'll be much room in the car for another person & bike. Kai might be able to take a bike or two, seeing as he loves driving anywhere! or you could ride out - it wouldn't take much over 40 mins.
-
reckon pride weekend could be a bad idea... probably best to check with southern/first capital to see if they're allowing bikes at all. i'll look into it.
btw. did the steyning 10 TT this evening. clocked a pretty slow time, but really really good fun, nice people & well organised. think i'll make it a weekly outing. plus i just aquired a new wheel - mavic 3G, 650 tubular. it's ridiculously quick! shame i'm not...

we went out over devil's dyke, across poynings roundabout, through shave's thatch to hurstpierpoint, then cut east to pyecombe, then in along the bike path to london rd and down to PP track for tea n cake. then to the fiddler's elbow for a pint of the black stuff :)
think max said it's about 19 miles ??
i'm up for the sprint. timing by heuer and photo finishes are standard i presume. or shall we just go for the casio stopwatch... tbh, i'll be happy if i make it to the roundabout at all. i think it'll be more of a challenge getting down it without brakes!

i'm up for a 6pm ride tomorrow. cake and tea at the track after.
crustlord - not sure i have any spare lights to lend. i'll probably need to get a bright one myself...
the southover challenge sounds hardcore, but i'm up for it. probably best to try it fairly late in the evening so there's no traffic!
-
If you said "nice bike" as you passed, and the reply sounded like "likewise mate", then that was me - unusual looking handlebars you had? I've been going up and down that road for years and I still meet people who have been doing the same!Could be due to the fact that I can't really cope with chatting and cycling in traffic at the same time, so I generally don't - shame really but it gets a bit hairy sometimes!
yep, that was me. ride that route pretty much everyday, and yeah, conversations and traffic don't mix..
maybe see you down the track sometime, or on the social ride this wednesday if it's still happening?? anyone still interested in popping for a ride and a beer after watching a few races at the track?
-
met someone on a black fixie (what is it with black bikes..?) coming along passed st peter's church. i was on my ridiculous yellow lo pro. is it anyone on here??
and i also saw a guy with a (surprise) black fixie, no brake & bulllhorns riding along the promenade (maybe with yellow tyres??).
there seem to be more of us cropping up by the day!

sorry, can't make the ride this weekend, got to help someone move house :(
babydino - i did make it down, did a few laps to have a quick stretch of the legs, but had been to see the physio just before, he worked my legs quite hard so i didn't register to race. have a form though, will try to make it next week. think i'm doing the steyning 10 the night before, so not sure how fresh the legs will be...
really good turn out i see, and that first scratch race looked pretty fast!!! saw some pretty serious kit too - zipp discs!?
did anyone else get down? i couldn't spot any familiar faces.

Hi guys any of you planning to race at Preston Park when the league starts next week?
I would love some feed back on what those who attended Try The Track thought? Was the coaching clear and helpful? Is there anything else you would like to know/have explained?
If so just message me
Lee
ps why hasnt anybody from here come and said hi to me!
Hi Lee
I said hi, but didn't realise you were on the forum! I came along to the track a couple of weeks back on a black bike, you gave me some helpful advise when we were riding the devil, remember?
i will try and race this season, but resting my knees at the moment, got a pulled ligament (?) after a ride a few weeks back :(
the coaching looked pretty decent, but i could only make it to one session unfortunately. I just need some tips on tactics and some info on the rules of the races - my naive tactic of going to the front and staying there didn't seem to work too well...see you on wednesday if there knees are up to it.

enjoyed that session tonight, didn't really understand the rules though... my plan of get to the front and stay there as long as possible worked for a while though! didn't realise when i got eliminated on the devil... must read the rule book before going down next week!
good to see a few others there tonight! see you next week?
