Thanks for the advice, i jumped into the you-tube hole and made a usb back up, reset the bios settings so it should have read it and though I could get bios options (F2) and run a diagnostics test on all the hardwear (F8 and F12) I still couldn't get it to show the usb as an option. I read that as it only has USB C it can sometimes be an issue. My mate gave me the number of some guy / place in croydon so I've dropped him a mail. Might try the guy in Detford as well as I can cycle down there easy enough. At the edges of my computer skills now though. Thanks again for the advice folks.

Sorry, left this tab open on the 'work' computer so just checked back in. The ring just spins until the screen goes blank. It then reappears, starts spinning and does the same cycle. I left it on last night soi it cycles through about every 30 seconds.
I'll have a google about creating the repair usb and see if I can give it a go.
thanks for the advice.

Hi Collective Brain.
I have a fairly decent Dell laptop that I got a couple of years ago when I was working not-from-home for a while. I hadn't even fired it up for probably 9 months but when I tried last week it ain't having it.
Runs hardware scan on start up, says it's fine, goes to dell icon with spinning dots then does nothing. Then goes back to hardware scan...
It was running fine and it's just been sat on a shelf so I'm hoping it's not that serious but I'd like to sort it out. Random googling of a repair shop seems like a terrible idea so does anyone have a recommendation? I'd rather just drop it off somewhere but could post if I need to. Or I could send it back to dell, but again, I'm not sure that's a great idea.
Many thanks,
B.

Hi all,
looking for a cheap black square taper crankset to replace a broken one on one of my bikes so I can hopefully sell it and free up some space. Ideally 104 BCD as that's the ring i have from the one I had to cut off. It's an MTB so ideally some kind of similar crank. It just runs as an SS and I have a ring (if it's the same BCD) so just L and R cranks ideally.Let me know if you have anything, I'm south, close to herne hill but can come collect if it's not too far or central.
Ta.

Worn pretty much daily for about 5 years. Not much of a collector, more of a user - if you will. Still to find something I like more. Will probably take a PVD Aquatimer to make me change it, so possibly never. I do have a G-shock with a sapphire face and carbon that's solar and sets itself, it's objectively better in every way except looks - but I hardly wear it. Maybe now I've popped my friday cherry I'll post that one next week.

Anyone got or tried the AKG N60 NC. They look perfect for what I need them for - smaller, more portable and cheaper than sony / bose. Reviews are good but they seem a bit difficult to get a hold of. There's quite a few going cheap on e-bay so either TK Maxx got a drop, they're fakes (is that likely, they seem a bit niche) or someone just went bust.
Wondering whether to take a punt on them as I have a longish flight coming up soon.

Interesting, if you've not already read it, as it's a more outsider perspective. Same conclusion, mind...

I'd keep that and wear it as is, if it still functioned, as a proper response to all the safe dwelling investment ones. In fact that's one of the first Rolexes I've really liked. Only works as a wearer if it was me that had smashed it up though. I wouldn't be buying one if Rolex did a 'Heritage Accident Series'.
