Fred, go to Nikko, just outside Tokyo, loads of shrines/temples etc, bit in the sticks but its worth the trip (takes two hours on the shinkansen).
Whilst in Tokyo, go to the Kichijoji neighbourhood (we used to live there...) and check out Inokashira Park. It's pretty vibrant. And also check out Koenji, which is nice for low-key indie-style shopping. You can get to both on the Chuo line.
Avoid Roppongi, it's like Liverpool Street bars on a Saturday night.
If you're after uber-fashionable, go to Daikanyama.

I thought The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, was pretty damn good. Also I just read 'Let the Right One In' and really enjoyed it. Much more so than the film, which has also received excellent reviews.
I just read McCarthy's Blood Meridian. I nearly chucked it a few times because of the violence (to animals, the human violence didn't really bother me) but his style is really something.
I'm now reading some advance copy of Aleksandar Hemon's Love and Obstacles, short stories about being an expat Bosnian. Avoid, it's really quite poor.

Your best course of action is to talk to some reputable breeders, who will be able to tell you a lot. Jacqui is right, terriers require a lot of stimulation - my parents have always had Jack Russels, and despite my mum always being at home and them having lots and lots of space for running about, everything (I do mean everything - they chew their beds, all sorts) gets chewed.
There are a few Boston clubs in the UK, but not a great deal of people seem to have them in this country (I have no idea why...). Try these folks:
BOSTON TERRIER CLUB. Sec. Mrs Tanner. Tel No: 01892 652095
BOSTON TERRIER CLUB OF SCOTLAND. Sec. Mrs S Borthwick. Tel No: 01506 884460
NORTHERN BOSTON TERRIER CLUB OF ENGLAND. Sec. Mrs J Metcalfe. Tel No: 01942 511104

Chap trackstanding on Victoria Embankment westbound at junction with Horse Guards Ave this morning pre-9am. I did a lot of staring because I was trying to see if you were the guy who I usually see trackstanding there on a geared bike, which is quite an impressive feat IMO. But obviously you weren't him, so I was much less impressed. Ha!

..having a lovely second bike so perfect for summer riding in the shed that I can't ride because nowhere stocks the stem I want and even if they did, I have no money anyway, and I also don't have a saddle because I basically find everything uncomfortable and I would just like to ride in my duvet please and thank you.

For sale:
- 1 x 24" complete wheel, including tyre (and probably a tube). Very skinny Sun rim BMX racing rim built onto low flange Specialized 28h hub. Radial. Takes 25c tyres, ISO 520 - you can get these tyres and tubes from Condor or online - I believe it takes the same as one of those Airnimal things. SOLD TO JIMBILLY
- 1 x 24" rim, same specs as above. £offers - SOLD
The front will be useful for a really low lo-pro, or maybe someone wants them as a pair for a tiny and/or kids' bike. I had these on a 47cm kids frame, they were ridden for a few months.
Also ITM Eclypse quill stem, good condition. Haven't measured it but it looks pretty long - I'd say 120-140mm. Great for the track - was on my bike when I bought it, when the whole thing had apparently been used for 'nothing but the track'. But being a dinky person I personally found it too long for the street. Clamp size I think is 25.8mm, 76 deg angle. Fits 1" threaded steerer. £20 ono - STILL FOR SALE

Tattooed guy overtaking me on Victoria Embankment this morning - can I have your shiny red bike please? It's more my size than yours! Very pretty frame indeed.
