Was almost taken out by a coach driver today, overtaking me on a blind corner with cars coming the other way. (Almost caught me in the pinch point). Adrenaline kicked in and I caught him a little up the road. He seemed sorry & promised he'd not do it again but:-
a.) This is the second time I've had to chase this particular driver
b.) He really was VERY close
c.) If no one reports him eventually he'll cut it too fine / has he already cut up other cyclists?
So what can i do? Police? Coach company (it's a G reg un-branded coach)? School he picks up for?
As we discovered on Hippy's thread I'm rather too English for violence / weeing in shoes. Any realistic steps which might see him take this seriously?

aaahh!
I kind of had this assumption that all the TT ones were internal routing unless specified. Obviously I've got it a bit of the wrong way round...
I can order away now...
Cor blimey ribble are doing the carbon versions of cane creek and tektro at under £30?
Only need the carbon bling effect but...

I was a juror in a police brutality case a couple of years ago and was amazed at the range of attitudes to the police. All nice "normal" people most with good jobs.
Me, white, middle class, late 20's , fairly polite, fairly law abiding etc. had (and have) a general respect for the police and a trust that MOST of the time they're trying to do the right thing.
Juror 2, irish, female, mid thirties, wouldn't have spat on a copper if there uniform was on fire. Completely distrustful and worked under the assumption that MOST coppers were power mad MOST of the time.
Juror 3, indian, femal forties \ fifties, clearly believed in respect, but had many experiences of problems with police.
The other jurors were spread over these lines. I didn't feel I was right and they were wrong, but it was clear they had a completely polar view to mine based on experiences I'd never had. But clearly police used to focus on specific stereotypes, from kids to hippies.
I still hold a view that if you do the crime (and know your doing it) you take the consequences. Whether is speeding in a car and a gatso ticket or a running a red light and a fine from plod. I think it's a bit of a cop out to say things like "isn't there anything better you can be doing?" As if its ok to commit an offence as long as you think its "not too serious"

Am wanting to tinker with my charge, my main complaint at the moment is I've not got the guts to go onto the bullhorn bars (is that the proper name?) for long periods as I'm wanting to keep the brake levers covered.
So TT brake levers then? Mainly thinking of just the one for the front brake. Want to route the cable externally so I can add a secondary lever on the flat part of the bar. (I just want to have my cake and eat it).
Any thoughts on decent \ reasonable priced levers?

alexmac Anyone got any thoughts on the Charge Plug? I hid a ride the other day, seemed a little heavy. Where does this fit in to the bianchi v fuji debate?
I've got one, it's my first fixie, so not too much to compare it too, but I'd say it doesn't really compare to the 2 other bikes. It's quite a different geometry to my road bike, a tad more relaxed. So I'd say it would be very different to the track bikes?
I still love it, it looks fab, rides really smooth and just seems to eat up the road.

Don't get me wrong, I kind of like people who can get a little bit psycho, my brothers a good example of someone who goes from calm to vindictive instantly. I think the world needs people like that to remind everyone that the "might makes right" rule is sometimes thrown by the odd weirdo who will just go skitz on anyone...
Unfortunately he got all the aggression genes in the family. The best I can do is a calm talking to or at a push a witty put down.

asm It's better to have it tight. If it's loose you're in risk of throwing the chain due to the lack of a derailleur, which is an inconvenience on a singlespeed and a potentially lethal problem on a fixie.
A bit ignorant I know, but lethal how? Am assuming if it throws the chain it'll just hang either side of the ring? even if it does jam, it'll just cause you to skid?
Feel free to correct me, am still a newbie in all things fixie?

Cor blimey and I got my adrenalin buzz from telling off a lady in a polite and english way "I'm just trying to point out how YOUR actions endangered MY life"
I'm not sure my heart could stand being you?
But it is bizarre, what do you need to do to be seen??? Other than surround yourself with a ton of metal / plastic?
It's point 5 that gets me every time.
When i got my latest, idiots seemed to be queueing up to tell me how stupid I was to get a bike for that much with ONLY ONE GEAR...
"I could have built you one for that" - This from a prat who spent £500 on a new motorcycle helmet cos he put his first in a box then forgot about it, only to find said box 2 days after the new purchase...
"Should have gone to Halfords"
ooh the wittiness continues
