So far i've built two bikes the Keirin Bridgestone being the latest the other an old beater.
Athough relatively new to biking and the fixed gear cycling the buzz for me is in the building and getting it together. I was gagging to get the Bridgestone done as it taken an age sourcing the bits, getting the finance scouring ebay bike jumbles but even before it was finished i was looking for another project.
I enjoy the bargin hunting, the errors which come with inexperience but yet teach for future builds, and the satisfaction when people recognise the effort you have put into it once its finished and the feel of it when you finally get it on the road.

Hi all finished this last week and sucessfully completed its maiden voyage to West drinks and then the Tweed Run without anything falling off!!

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h320/Mullerbugs/IMG_2838.jpg
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h320/Mullerbugs/IMG_2839.jpgIts a Bridgestone Keirin frame, the decals are in White so its hard to see them against the pearlesant paint. It my second project the other being a beater replica Merckx.
I'm aware of the frying pan Sugino Zen too, pointed out by some at Wests! I have changed it to a 19 sprocket from the original 15 i bought for the tweed run and it felt fine. For some reason i must have thought i was the incredible hulk but am planning to change the front ring in future to something a little smaller.
Thanks to Dale (Dogsballs) i got the wheels sorted for the Tweed run after my failed first attempt to wheel build, the picture of bewilderment on Dales face when i went to pick them up was priceless, lets just say i wont be giving up my day job!
Anyhows the names Shane so if you see me around dont be scared to say hello.

nitro moors is only a paint stripper not a rust killer as far as i'm aware.
You could use other stuff called Jenolite which is available from halfords or ca spare restoration places. Coat your frame in it (brush on) and it will kill the rust and turn it into a white powder which can be sanded down.
Be careful not to leave it too long as this stuff will react to the paint if its not washed properly so when you do use plenty of fairy liquid other wise when it comes to spraying the paint will set and probably crack or peel. So be thorough with it and take your time. I used this stuff when i was working on old v-dubs and it works a treat but use gloves safety equipment etc. I cant believe how flippant people have been about these chemicals they can cause you serious problems for the sake of taking a bit of time and patience to do the job properly.
In terms of paint stripper the reason why Nitro Moors is tedious is because its for domestic purposes. If you want something more industrial you can try tetrosyl which car restoration people use and its like acid but again same applies to both Jenolite and Nitro make sure you wash it down with fairy liquid.
hope this helps.

- 1 for what Catboy said, i bought my Bridgestone off him about 6 months back and have just finished it. It was mint and wasnt the frame that I intended to buy but when i saw it fell in love with it.
Cant understand the negativity towards the so called Keirin or NJS shit as its been described on here. Over priced and over inflated but surely thats the same with anything branded.
Different is nt always bad, and at the end of the day its your money what you do with it is up to you surely!
Your Manser frame is beautiful and seeing as its almost complete seems like madness to move it on especially as you have the rims already. Maybe build it up and if it still doesnt excite you give Steve ( guy from the gumtree ad) a buzz.

I bought my bridgestone keirin frame off the guy Catboy is going on about from gumtree and his name is Steve, based i Hackney really sound bloke and like Catboy says he is a bit put off selling on the forums.
Worth giving him a buzz because he's got quite a collection of old frames. i was intending to buy a lovely Bennotto frame off him but by the way Steve went on about it i felt i would nt do it justice and proabably spoil it!
Top guy, i would nt hesitate to buy stuff off him well worth a visit.
