jonny andy, is that the coborn arms near mile end?
yellow Fort wasn't mine but fond memories of that place, mainly from watching the 2002 world cup in there - opening at 7 in the morning.
Yeah, that's the place. I'm spoilt for choice here with the Morgan Arms about 5 doors down.
World Cup 2002. Was that the one where England got knocked out in the quarters? Or was that 2006? :)

fatboyralph, looks like you are the winner(?). Excellent stuff. Welcome aboard mate. Swimmer Mike is putting our entry in, so I'll let him know we have a team. We'll have to sort out the entry fee at some point. And catch up, I guess. I'll whisper you my number so we can keep in touch.
Really looking forward to it now.

Hey Phil, after talking to you on Sat I'm keen to get back in the pool and start training. Maybe next year I'll do the whole thing.
@plingboot, cheers mate, thanks for the tips. I didn't realise you could use any bike. Maybe I should have done the ride! No, I've committed to the run, so I'll stick with that.
@everyone else, I'm not at all worried about times, we are really doing this for the fun, excitement and experience of it all. And since we don't have a third yet, anyone would be welcome. All we want is someone who will definitely commit to this. VB? danzel? flickwg? First in, I guess.

A mate and I are keen to enter the London Triathlon team event. He's got the 1.5km swim, I've got the 10km run, we are looking for someone to do the 40km cycle. I'm pretty sure you need a geared bike to do the Tri, otherwise I would be doing the ride.
It would cost about £60 each, but would be worth a lifetime of memories... or maybe just a chance to ride around central London with no traffic. So who's up for it?

Not all the rides have to go to RP. I reckon that riding the same place every week would get pretty boring pretty quick. Maybe that is too harsh, maybe I should just say that it would be more interesting if we mixed up the routes a bit.
So I'm up for 8.30am (see what I did there) at Hyde Park corner, and we decide the route on the day. Start this Sunday?

I'm in for this. Sounds like loads of fun. My only complaint is that I don't want to wait 7 weeks for the next group ride. Maybe we can organise a smaller (faster) ride sometime in Feb. Might see what we can come up with.

4am! Sounds like you guys put in a decent session at the bar. Was it the witty conversation or the drunk student chicks that kept you there?
Fantastic ride. RP in the dark with the angry deer was genius, as was the leg from the park to Clapham when the pace just seemed to creep up and we were really racing along. I'm feeling it a bit this morning though. Really looking forward to the next one now, hope it's not too far away.

Sorry to drag up old Heath again, but this bit from the Guardian story cracked me up:
"Diana Wolozin told police she then tried to call him before going into his bedroom and setting up her massage table.
She then tried to wake Ledger and found he was cold to the touch.
Assuming he was unconscious, she rang actress Mary-Kate Olsen from Ledger's mobile phone, to seek advice."Well obviously.

Pistanator Andyf whizzing past Kennington Tube this morning heading south, I was heading north. I shouted but you didn't hear me....:-)
Hey mate, yeah was probably concentrating too hard... left foot down, now right foot down, now left...
Do you turn onto Kennington Park rd from Braganza rd? I'm sure I've seen you a few mornings. I'll call out next time. Have you changed your Dolan over to fixed yet? -

Does anyone have any experience of Alien Bikes? More specifically their wheels? I talked to the guy and you can get a set of wheels shipped over for US$221 or £110.
They are "New School black on black style, with strong 32mm deep section pinned-joint rims and 36 spokes laced 3-cross to our high flange hubs. Single-sided for fixed only. Includes 1/8" 16T cog and lockring. Replaceable cartridge bearings. Black stainless 14g spokes with black brass nipples. Non machined sidewalls for a clean look"
They look good, and the price is great, but what is the quaility like?
How many frames will they accept on a '£45 one colour' job? I've got a frame and a few parts that need spraying.
