the viking works well, since i am a viking:
pictures of the bike coming very soon.
alexis, i take it you havent seen many/any other fixed riders around oxford to slip a card to?
i'd be up for going down to london for this freewheel business...though if the govt is giving us blocks and blocks of untraffiked streets, who wants to turn this into a londonfgss crit?

Oswald My two pence ! have you seen how Aerospoke insert the hub into the wheel (on their site) .. unless I'm mistaken that isn't going to last more then a couple of skid stops before it's loose ..
this is another issue with them - they aren't design for backpedalling, and when you strip the hub, the companies are under no obligation to replace it or help you.

anyone around oxford ride fixed (or singlespeed, or just happen to be a member of this forum)?
i'm looking to get together with some people and hang out, ride around, play polo, etc with over the next 3-4months i'm here (though after i'm gone maybe people will still use this thread when looking for things to do/people to meet up with in oxford).
alexis (from ocw) printed up some little spoke cards/fliers that he and i are planning on slipping in any wheels of fg/ss bikes we see around oxford, though, atleast from my end, there's been no such luck so far as i haven't seen anyone on a fg/ss. i'm assuming more people will be here when term starts, and out of those people some will ride fixed, so if you'll eventually be making your way to oxford let us (the interwebz) know.so yeah, anyone in/around oxford want to get together and ride/hang out tonight, this weekend, whenever?
also, how much does it cost to get into london from out here? is this something people from the surrounding-london-area do on a regular basis, because obviously there's a lot more going on in london then here. the university gave me this student railway card thing, so i'm assuming that might make travel into london cheaper (?) -

by "aero" do you mean "bladed" spokes?
how is the driveside rear laced? and is the dishing correct? this can be a pretty big factor in the amount of weight the wheel can take. bladed spokes are meant to be stronger and are used in a lot of high-end low spoke count wheels, so they really shouldn't be breaking.i think the mavic ksyrium anniversarie road racing wheels are actually radially laced on the driveside (something i thought you were NEVER supposed to do) but they use bladed spokes and hold up to a fuckload of punishment.
it almost looks like the dishing is to accommodate a 1 sided hub and not a flipflop hub.
