oh hello...
its me... aunty nasty (http://www.movingtargetzine.com/article/dear-aunty-nasty-1),
after 13 years messengering, i ended up here
http://www.harryhallcycles.co.uk
for too long, and just started at some dodgy bike company in dn6...
http://www.planet-x-warehouse.co.uk/?p=2453i put on the hell of the north west annual alleycat, the yo fixie annual afternoon, various alleycats when i get the inclination, and just got the sunday social rolling...
you'll get more info here: http://cantgoslo.blogspot.com/

yep. its me. not sure if its a "real job" but working on it...
i would never ever consider myself a keirin guru... brants words, NOT mine.
px/onone ARE aware the website is a bit of a minefield... i've spent a hours today trying to get my head around it... 4,000 product items... with descriptions inputed by northerners...
all i can recommend is browsing the website regularly and get you'll get used to it... the old one (when i was just a customer) was a whole heap worse
its an ongoing thing of trying to make it more user friendly...
and yes, the bars are pricey. but thats what you get with something thats handmade. you pay for quality. you folk all know that.
the bars look stunning in the flesh (ah-hem). a lot nicer than the similar eai/nitto version
and dont forget that the current financial climate is really screwing everything up for distributors right now... http://www.hubjub.co.uk/ ... let alone the general '09 price increases
on that tip, when did anyone complain about the price of a loaf of bread or pint of milk (yes i know you have to eat, but EVERYTHING is increasing in price)
unfortuantely, its something we all gotta deal with
for anyone that really wants to find out my real name OR find out why i was first called "nasty" in st johns wood, hook up with me in a bar with an open fire, a couple of battered leather armchairs and a bottle of jamesons and all will become clear
and for what its worth, we're really open to ideas from y'all about what people want... let us know and we'll try and source it for you
and dont sleep on the carbon frames, the offer wont last for long...
my two cents...

found these:
http://www.planet-x-warehouse.co.uk/acatalog/Track_Crank_Clearance.html
i've been using them for about a year... stiff, light strong etc... comes with outboard bearing bb
fisher's bring them in with a retail of £200 which probably explains why they havnt caught on, but at £90 definately worth checking out
-
ison bring in the dia compes.
they'll be restocking 02 08 08
we have a coupla pairs of white/pink/green @ harry's.
if you really really want or cant wait then pm me. i'll try and help out but stocks are limited
might be able to do something on the price -£35 IS expensive for pretty much a regular folder, but ison have had to put up their trade prices recently, there's not much mark up on these...

i grabbed an archie wilkinson last year with the intention of building it up as a very cheap messenger bike.
the rear will accept a 700c wheel , but the dropouts are for 110. and bmx pacman style. so you'd have to spread em apart before getting it in... i was lazy and got 120mm's in...
also the forks have zero rake - we popped a road fork on it - not too much overlap. i had been thinking run a 26 on the front, but we had the above threaded fork knocking around
the headset it comes with is very low stack and crap.
the seatpost is 26.i never actually got around to riding it unfortunately, however my buddy used it for messing on for a coupla months. fun to ride, but quite heavy.

36h large flange dura ace double fixed hubs are available to order from any store that is supplied by madison
madison part number is: HB7600AR2WNJS
retail is £54.99
which incidently is the same price as a small flange da front hubi've been in touch with a couple of folk at madison to see if they can source the front hub. apparently theyre working on it, but i'm sure you realise that most of the track stuff is kept for the home market
madison dont have any stock listed at the moment, but i've had good supply of them during the past year. i'd expect them to have more stock in soon. if you want one sooner, whisper me -i'm looking at two...
madison should be restocking 09.04.08
hope that helps -
probably the best wheel builder in central manchester is gonna be guy at harry halls. he's done a lot of wheels for messengers, street fixie riders and track racers. he charges £15 for a build. he's only very very occasionaly had to tweak anything after the initial bedding in period. he normally has a few day turnaround, which can be speeded up with bribes of 1li bottles of san miguel. come and see me at harrys to discuss what you need if you want. we'll probably also have correct spoke length too...
huw - last seen working part time at bike doctor in rusholme would be my second choice.
bikeboutique now pass work onto guy for whatever thats worth
hope thats been of help

yep, thanks to the above posters for the positive comments about harry halls
its taken me a while to get the track stuff in, but i think we're slowly getting there... partly due to me bugging the owner about stuff, but also to the folk that have requested and patiently waited for the specialist parts to come in - without you guys i'd still be trying to flog a solitary miche chainset and a front miche hub with no axle nuts...
we have - steel + alu dolan frames, the usual plug (tank) langster, fillmore, ss tricross as stock.
we have a 54cm trek t1 which really is a nice frame -def worth upgrading the stock parts...
also genesis flyer f/s for £230, and the fbm sword for about 450-500... preorder onlynjs parts - mks pedals/straps, toshi bits, nitto bars, sugino cranks and rings etc
also - rear large flange da rear flipflop njs hubs - hidden away in the madison catalogue - for £55. one of those set me back a lot more 10 years ago - its the same price as a da small flange front.
we also have profile racing fixed gear hubs in. these are the f*cking bomb. i prefer them to phil's (for whatever thats worth)... and they come in colours...
kashimax stuff will be inbound within the next month or so
if anyone in the manchester area needs anything, stop by the store and see me - i'm here to help. if we dont have what you want, i'll do my best to source it for you
now, my 2 cents about manchester...
bikeboutique is good for cheaper repairs-jaime and paul are top guys, bike doc is a friendly store, the bikes from the academy van aint roadworthy gbh on tib street do some interesting conversions and use a lot of recycled bits... evans and ebc are the regular bike supermarkets, and decathalon in stockport are great for cheap tubes etcdont be dissapointed if there's not a load of trackstuff at the velodrome. its a bike jumble foremost - however, i will be selling a merck 55, san marco 57, mebbe a dolan kilo champion, and some other bits and pieces... anyone coming up here want dibs, holler me
ibikemcr festival

dont forget a rear brake has a much shorter thread than the front... (since a rear brake bridge is much shallower in depth an a contemporary fork. drilling.. )
we ran a rear brake with a longer allen bolt... as opposed to cutting the front brake thread shorter. we didnt really measure anything, just got a allen bolt to fit after trying a coupla different length ones -
i'd suggest returning your front brake to the store you purchased it from and exchange it for a rear, and get them to give you a longer allen nut to fit... hey thats whats your lbs is for...
hope that helps a little...

or sinclairsl... good lock up on the railings and the alpine lager aint too bad...
we could make it the john snow of the north west!
hipstars take note: weatherspoons are doing their yearly beer fest. two beers of interest are the firestone and yono yono. i propose we scope out what mcr 'spoons are serving it and have a taster evening... and yes i know jb's aint exactly hip, but thats not the point...
