I wanted to save a link to my favourites for Todays post, which is something like:

Picked them up at lunch time. Were well packed with axle spacer. Approx 7" was threaded of 11". Forks also had mudguard eyelets and front brake bolt hole. Minor imperfections to black paintwork finish, but good enough for the hack bike. Heavy steel as you would expect. Fork shoulders were of the concave arch type.

Ogio make pretty good rucksacks. I have the Ogio Vega which I got in the wiggle sales for a tenner, crc still selling them for £15. Seperate compartment for laptop/folder, and plenty of pockets/wallets. However, water did seep through once in heavy rain after an hour. Otherwise very comfortable and pleased with it. Also been in the washing machine several times with no problems.

I bought a pair of these cheap forks for my fixed hack bike (£19 inc p+p):
http://www.freemanscycles.co.uk/product2.asp?product_id=1235&pname=Steel+ForksI'm going to pick them up from the courier depot tomorrow, so will let you know what they're like. If I recall correctly the fork-stem is approx 11" of which 4" (or was it 7"?) is threaded. So should just need cutting down to size.
I wouldnt ride the bent forks or attempt straightening them out, as it causes fatigue points. If you like riding free handed, bent forks tend to pull, or you have to weight one-side to balance the bike.

I'm currently using a gearing of 42x15 (75") on my fixed around Richmond Park. Going around anti-clockwise uphill is enjoyable, but going clockwise up the steepest hill is a bit of a struggle, but doable. Is this gearing too high for RP? I'm Interested to know how other find RP using their fixed gear ratios and directions.

Done it many a time, getting better at it.
Worst incident was after 7 pints of Krony, and a 2 mile journey home at 2am. Was being extra cautious doing an extra slow fixed turn, when I lost balance and fell. Luckily, no lookers. Checked bike over, no damage, rode on home. Got home parked the bike up next to porch, whilst fumbling to find keys. Bike decides to roll back and top tube scrapes against corner of brick wall. EEEEeeeekkk, spend 3 evenings touching up, cutting and lacquering paintwork. Also woke up to a nice bout of road rash on my knee. Still makes me cringe when it catches a bad ray of light (top tube not my knee!). Moral of the story, always take your hack bike to the pub! -

Is it just me, or is this track bike real ugly?

I have used m520's for the past 2 years. Heavy, but very strong, and still smooth. I keep mines on the minimum tension setting, and they very rarely pop-off unexpectedly.
