the-smiling-buddha
BRM666 Sunlight and daylight surveyor. Surely the LEAST interesting job on this thread...
That sound like a lovely job, measuring sun light

It would be great if you got to physically go out there and measure it, but some prat has gone and invented a software program that simulates it.
Edit: Smiley face thingy.

I managed to score a wheel from a mate at work, put a new cog on it (as the old one was ruuted), a new chain and a couple of washers and the chain line was pretty much spot on. Put it all back together and presto!!! Single speedage!
Next stage is the blue saddle and some new tyres (when the pay clears) and a new crank setup (also when the pay clears). Any suggestions for tyre colour? I like the idea of some white ones, but they could look a bit lairy.
Oh, and the reflector will be banished also.
Cheers for the advice and the highly entertaining forum.

Hi folks,
New poster here. I have been lurking for a while, enjoying the banter - great forum!
I have a late '80s Peugeot (similar to Jonaent's) that I have been fiddling with, with the intention of converting to a singlespeed . I am at the point where I am happy with the bars/seat/post etc (finding a 24mm post was a PITA), and would like some advice.
It is/was a 12 speed, so am I correct in assuming the rear hub needs to be 126mm?
What is the best way to get the correct chainline? Do I fit the rear hub first and get a BB to fit?
Any recommendations for people to see - I have seen that there are few on here who will build wheels for beer - my favourite currency, as I am trying to keep the costs down.
I apologise if this is shit that you have been over before, but I have looked and am not entirely sure.
Thanks in advance,
Richie.
A big part of the ride is to welcome people new to fixed riding. That's quite a welcome! Bear in mind that this might be their first time fixed, they might be nervous and with a really terrible gear. The ride should be easy and social... we should be able to talk and have a laugh whilst riding around before finally settling at the polo fields to chat some more.
What about us singlespeed yellow-bellies? Are we welcome?
