Unxetas, good points, but both these hubs (goldtecs + phils) would fall into your "ridiculously priced" category, as the Goldtecs are made in the UK.
I think he Goldtecs are definitely on the cards in the near future (when they're available again - anyone wanna buy an alll black, cartridge wheel set? :)
does anyone know if goldtecs are available in the US, i wonder if they have any kind of a rep over there?

unxetas price? mirror finish?
:D
price - yep, there's is sure a big diference there
mirror finish? - true, there is that as well. But for the sake of comparison, lets say a black Goldtec, and a black phil, is there realy that much of a diference for the money, or is it just so you can say "I have the most expensive equipment on my bike"?

[cite]My Thomson is just a bit ugly even if it does the job perfectly.
David, what thomson have you got? I've got an Elite and think it looks well on the bike. Sure its a little bit fatter than yr average stem but its so stiff. But the big plus was that it has very clean lines on the back, ie. no bolts on the back

Hey! It's good to be here again!
Ok, question. . . I have carbon forks on my bike, and have been practicing riding backwards, circles etc. I found that it is much easier to do it standing with yr weight over the front wheel. Also, whilst dialing it all in, I've had a couple of instances where the fork has been turned to a right angle to the frame, and as you're pedaling backwards has been pulled the wheel back at this angle causing the fork andwheel to "judder" (is that a word?)
Anyway, was just wondering what people thought of carbon forks for this type of riding. I'm not treating the bike like a mtb and I respect its limitatons (i've been riding/racing mtbs for over 15yrs) but what kind of punishment can these forks take?
Cheers all!

I've been using one (virtually) every day for the last 3years (the Ultimate with X-strap) and it's a great bag. If I'm gonna be picky, its quite a heavy one, and the velcro doesn't seem as tough as it used to be, but it is one tough bag, and one i'd highly recommend. Any question I can answer about them, ask away.
Cheers!

all joking aside, this here has to be one of the best tricks I've seen done on a fixed gear bike. . .

You'd definitely be the bad boy in town if you could pull any of these of down yr local high street
looking into it, I supose you could make the same comparison between Hope and Chris King. . .
Although, it looks like the Phil's are completely forged, eyelets included, the goldtecs look to be machined.
