Ok, leaving aside the ethics of what the dude did, and the details of what he did, what is going on with regards the legal stuff?
A couple of people have noted that they cannot comment on the details as there are legal proceedings ongoing. However, the dude has been fined and threatened with deportation for non-payment. How can he have been fined already if the legal proceedings are ongoing?
Has he already been charged with one thing and is awaiting the outcome of something else? Im confused.

ok. without getting into the semantics of whether 'stretch' is a good term for the elongation of a chain caused by bushing wear, Im still gonna go out on a limb and suggest that his chain didnt appreciably stretch twice in two nights.
to the op, check your dropouts. You said you cranked down on the nuts pretty hard? It may be that you caused some indentation in the dropouts and now the nuts slip back into that indentation when you put the wheel back in.

Hey all
Im building up a touring bike on an old Claud Butler Dalesman frame. This one's gonna be geared so if anyone has any old friction shifters, either bar end or downtube (though not requiring braze-ons) then I can take them off your hands.
Im also after a 50ish tooth chainring, so if you have stripped one off an old road bike I would happily give you a few quid for it.

whoah! what's wrong with LED lights?
my favorite is tooley just outside london bridge tube. The other day I was riding up the rise totwards the bridge, picked a lane through the sea of pedestrians crossing against the lights and this chick stops, turns around and walks into the side of my bars.
I usually holler at peds (and taxis, and busses........etc) but is not really effective unless I remove my pollution mask first. It just comes across as agressive mumbling.

I noticed the OP mentioned that the PC grabbed his handlebars. Does this not seem a bit dangerous? I would imagine that if I was moving at a bit of a clip and someone grabbed my handlebars it would be a bit messy. Are the police allowed to use some kind of physical restraint without some kind of verbal warning other signal for you to stop? Quite worrying if so.

im a big fan of my pista. though sometimes I thinkI could have spent a bit more and built a bj frame. Mine came with a brake (not break) so no extra expense there. Got it at holdsworths if that makes a difference.
Someone mentioned going singlespeed. If so, you might want to consider a back brake as well. I dunno about the fuji, but the pista isnt drilled for one.

Actually, I like to run mine a little slack, usually people say you want about 1/2inch of play in it but I just set it so there is just a little visible sag to it.
I believe that a chain doesnt have to be binding in order to be tight enough to accellerate the wear to your drivetrain, and if you have a half decent chainline (like on a new bike) then derailling should be unlikely. I heard that the old trackie test was to set the peddles spinning then shake the bike up and down, if the chain stayed on the cogs then it was good.

can you get them back on with just your thumbs? is there a magic technique?
