I'm all set - hubs arrived yesterday and I have my spokes/rims/nipples/tape here, too.

My kitchen flooded the other day and while I was at work my landlord emailed me to say that his plumber, named Fetish, was in my flat fixing the problem. Needless to say, I left early to go and check on things...

I use citrus de-greaser to clean the chain, then veggie-based lube. It seems to work well; everything's nice and quiet.

I'll try and find it again, but there's no guarantee I won't get lost in Vauxhall once more...

What's it called; the little bolt and clamp that grips the cable? I loosened it for a grass track race and it found freedom.

If anyone has one, or knows where to get one, I would be eternally grateful and would reward them with money or beer.

Pair of Phils + Lockring = £140

I bought a pair of these on the 18th. Nothing yet, but I'm hoping they get here before Thursday because I'm taking a wheel-building course.

phils are a similar size to goldtecs, both are fractionally big than a system-x/ambrosia/zenith

Dogs, thanks for your help earlier on with spoke-lengths. I just popped into Cavedish and they gave me 288mm spokes for Phils on CXP 33s, which is 6-8mm off what you suggested. Will that be OK, or does it have to be spot on?

That is a bike thief's dream. A veritable bounty of bits ready for harvesting.

Spokes sorted at Cavendish at lunch; they assured me that 288mm would be OK with 3-cross on my setup. That's 6-8mm off of what DB recommended - slightly worried. Hubs still not here. Bit more worried.

And rim tape?

My rims are here, hubs are hopefully on the way from the US (got them on eBay). If they don't get here on time I'll pick one up from Cavendish and sell the one that arrives later. Still need spokes and nipples, though.

I just looked on Wiggle and Chain Reaction, and neither have 280-282mm spokes, which is what I need for high flange Phils and CXP33 I have been told. Bah.

Sorry to wade in. I'm also doing the wheel-building class, but I don't know what length spokes I need. I've ordered Phil high-flange hubs and CXP33 rims.

I took a long careful look at the map, thought I had it all memorised and set off on my merry way. Somewhere around Albert Embankment I had a senior moment and forgot where it was. I rode around for a while but didn't find you guys.
