today is day 4 of the second attempt to put duckie on a diet. He's stopped swatting me in the face and launching himself at my sleeping body to get the bowl refilled.. instead he's decided to catch additional food.

He's not been bringing them back to the boat, but his farts tell me the story...

today at 7.30 i jumped out of bed because I heard the skuffle of a fight on the roof.
before I got to the door there was the heavy thud and bounce of hitting the back deck.
I flung open the doors to see a big black ball fall into the river and duckie bee-lined in the boat.
I jumped out on the deck.
I scanned the water and could not find the black ball.
Nor did i see the tell tale "v" of something swimming to shore.
I looked everywhere around the boat.
All sides, nothing.
I do not want someone's pet to drown.

Then i realised there was about 4-5 people on the tow path and bridge all stopped staring at me.
I was in a t-shirt and knickers.
Went back in boat.
Noticed theres a large amound of black and white feathers over the deck.. and some blood.
Duckie is bloody.
Its not his blood.

Personally I am so glad the Coot got away.

wow. all those posts are just terrifying.
I had a lovely brunch with a friend. then i had lovely dinner with friends, left early and went to see someone i knew was "shut in" and we chatted for an hour and had whiskey. went home happy, slightly pissed and very full.

hmmm. cancelling plans to go west then. The cat stayed under / in the duvet today when i rolled it back, its cold on the boat. (warmer now with fire)

smoked salmon is not what i think of as cheap food. having said that the trimmings are 90p at both tesco and sainsbury. they are perfect for scrambled eggs, or pasta dishes where you'd cut or flake the salmon anyhow. plus because its smoked it had a strong flavour so you can use 1/2 a pack for 3 eggs and still feel there is tons.

i am so glad i saw this. I am a huge bb fan. I will have to check this out after the fact though as i am busy when its on..

Depends what "off" you mean.

If you mean, screen off. Then it should wake for alarm.

If you mean, power off. Then it will not wake for alarm.

The Blackberry doesn't actually power off unless you remove the battery. It just goes into a low power standby. Which is why it can still wake for an alarm.

And the stock S2s do use battery like nothing... mostly due to the background Samsung apps. A good way of stretching battery life is to disable WiFi when not needed and to use 2g over 3g unless you need the fast data.

ok i'm not techie at all. just got gaxaxy s2 -- if its off it doesnt "wake up" to do alarm? why?!? that is something blackberry even does. am i missing something?
its gobbling battery like mad too. I cant have a phone that won't survive 24hrs without charge, that's mad.

ok. given my frame of mind right now I've been looking for something painfully long, physically and mentally challeging to set myself into. (besides work)

So maybe this is doable.

my average in other events was 14km per hour. this should then (in theory) take 28 hrs. of cycling in 5 days. or like 7 hrs max a day.

if anyones going to epping it may be worth checking the common trails as maybe he's fallen off? (i hope not, but i'd rather have him found with a broken leg than not - if you know what i mean!)
