Westerham Hill. Most of the brigade who came down to see BMMF in action at Yorks Hill rode back up that on fixed. I think they all enjoyed it ;0)

I used to live 2 miles away from it, but I've never ridden up it. Waaaay to much traffic. There's hills just as steep (and steeper) on either side and nice country lanes they are too.

My worst was 10 hilly miles home with a loose saddle and no allen keys. Couldn't fucking sit down for the whole time.

My saddle broke one evening, so I had to cycle from Hammersmith to Victoria standing up. Normally fine, but I was pissed out of my brains and riding a Brompton. I vagely recall shouting "come on then, lets 'ave some!" at every car that drove past!

Remembered another! One winter about 5 years ago the trains were screwed as it had hammered with snow all day. None were running from London to Sevenoaks, so I decided to ride home. At one point going downhill in south Croydon I nearly ended up under a lorry. Needed to stop, squeezed the brakes, nothing happened. Squeezed more and more until the front wheel bit the brake and I went down. Fortunately the lorry was coming up so could stop fine!

At one point (between Warlingham and Westerham) I hadn't seen a car for about 20 minutes. Stopped for a piss, and then I realised. There was no noise. Nothing. The air was as still as I had ever heard. Quite a surreal moment.

The last 5 or so miles I couldn't feel either my feet or my hands. Rode aprox 25 miles, I think it took 2 1/2 hours.

Probably your average commute for a Glaswegian!

Bonked three quarters of my way through my first century ride. The furthest I'd ridden previously was 50 miles. Like pj, I could only pedal going downhill. All I'd had was 2 jam sandwiches and 2 bottles of water. Oh, and for the first 50 miles I was carrying a rucksack full of heavy tools.

The battery had gone in my phone and I didn't have any money for more food or for a call box. Eventually struggled to my brothers house 15 miles short of home and got a lift. I don't actually remember getting home. I'd ridden 105 miles and it had taken me 10 1/2 hours.

Spent years growing up with Bullseye on a Sunday afternoon. Used to hate it. Now I absolutely love it!

My brother-in-law has always gone on about how he would like to go and watch it, I've always said I'd go as well. A month ago he asked me if I fancied earning a bit of cash taxiing him and 3 of his mates to Lakeside as he'd got tickets for the second round. Yeah, thanks very fcuking much, you cnut.

I missed my last train home, so took one to Strood (near Rochester), from there it's only 8 1/2 miles home. Unless that is you go in completly the wrong direction and ride around the Chatham/Gillingham area for 50 minutes. Already looked it up, my total mileage was 16! Finally got in at 2:30am.

Still not sure. If I do, I'll be there same time as Brett, 5:45pm ish.

BTW the new wheels are a good job everyone! You'll see for yourselves tonight.

The profile gets lost a bit near the end sadly. The route out follows the TdF stage until it reaches Higham. The roads from Cuxton to Longfield are nice, the profile shows an enormous mountain, but it's just a bit draggy in reality.

Could possibly join you (would have to check with the diary, aka the wife), but would be on a road bike and I'd swing off at Meopham as I live just 6 miles SSE (as the crow flies) from there. Couldn't get to the start until about 9:15am though.

Only thing about rides to Kent is that you have to ride through a fair chunk of London to get there. If anyone wanted to do a Kent ride and travel down by train to a mainline station I'd be up for it. I'm from near Maidstone, but can easily get to any other station. Best would either be Sevenoaks (30 mins from Charing Cross), or Swanley (25 mins from Victoria). But that's for another day for another thread. This is Tommy's thread and ride :0)
