once again from my favourite photo news blog at boston.com
enjoy:

I bought an old Olympus 35 SP rangefinder a couple of years ago as I'd managed to convince myself I needed a compact, and I never use the bloody thing. The trouble is I'd never forgive myself if I saw "the perfect shot" and all I had on me was an old school rangefinder or a compact digital. For random shots I just stick a 50mm f1.8 on my SLR body and it's bulky, but fits in my bag fine.
That said, the difference in weight between my D100 and D200 is massive. I may well have to dust off the Olympus...
I do not entirely agree. the quality of the upper shelp rangefinder digitals is just stunning. i.e. the DP1, D-Lux4. LX3. The only real trade of is the small control on depth in field IMO. But every camera to its uses. Wasnt there a BP photo prize winner once who used a single use ?

I can highly recommend the Norfolk Broads for Canal Trips :

I run along the towpath stretch from islington to regents park several times a week in the morning, almost all commuters know what they are doing and are very polite and considerate. Its the weekends when all the amateurs come out. I have seen quite a few bikes in the canals if that gives people some comfort

Oliver this explains it very well (you can watch it on-line)
This is a very powerful documentary not least for the number of senior US military personnel in it who speak out against torture - absolutely shocking
This was shown on PBS in America shortly before the election.
I just finished watching all 3 parts. it is horrid !! It makes me angry and sad at the same time.
What ideals is the 'civilized' West defending ? This documentray should be shown
on all channels on TV.
Thanks for posting Buddha -

I'm waiting until I'm not renewed then I'm going back to Oz to ride bikes in the sun and build nice wooden coffee tables. Fuck I.T.*
*I'm struggling with a sql mirroring/replication issue here. My view may be biased.
Nope, checked again, I.T. is still fuckled.
I highly disagree, I am afraid.
I know everybody is pissed off with things not working in a computer and like to have a rant. But in general ?
come on ! IT's impact on life is remarkable. Of course it attracts people with social disorders hence the geeky nature of the stereotypical IT stimulus but seriously ?
Which industry is if not IT is shaping our society and behaviour at present ?
Former cutting edge industries have reduced themselves to formalism and repetitive retro-invention. And any true progress is ALWAYS based on the new tools IT is giving them.
We are truely living in groundbreaking times,
It is not often in history that a new media is born. printing, radio, TV & internet. We as a shifting society have not even begun to come to terms with it.
I find it fascinating

I am in the same industry and as the economic compression continues more and more IT will move to propierty systems. The services sector, banks & insurances above all want to reduce maintainance costs by having fewer system and less in-house coding. Experts for a major 3rd party vendor system are the niche to be in right now. My current client as much as most other places have already laid off 15% IT people.
Very good general developers are out there fighting for fewer jobshttp://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/contracts/city%20of%20london/.net.do (check the indexes at the bottom)
dips on chainring. PMing now
