Ok, Guys question.
I believe to have a near to ideal chainline on my track frame and was so far very happy with the smooth sound (silence)
if my fix. Another reason I like fixed.....no coasting tictictictictictictictictictictictictictictictic..
Thats probably why I get so obsessed/ annoyed with this problem now:
In the last few day my chain started to "speak up".
It is a rythmical click...click (i.e. twice) on every revolution. I cant work out when it does it by the look of it ?
Does this ring a bell with anyone ?
The guy in condor (might be on fgss too btw) recommended even more lube.
But I was under the impression that more lube only makes more dirt stick on the chain
and the "necklace" appeal is lost -
well the upper part of the chain that withstands the power transmission while pedaling forward would try to
pull the backwheel forward. On skidding/backpedaling the power transmision sits on the lower part of the chain
but still trying to pull the backwheel forward..Or should someone take away my engineering degree 8-) ?
...anyway I will try an 18. Thanks for your expertise. dont mean to be a smart arse. -
a
hippy Chaintugs stop you pulling the wheel forward when accelerating hard. I'm not sure if it will do anything for noise after loads of skidding.
accelerating forward or backward ? LOL
I just meant ..when my chain is less tensioned it gets noisy...that is particulary the case if I backpedales hard a lot..chain tugs prevent that too ? -

heauy skidding takes away the whole cost benefit of biking to work. An extra tyre every month ?
Maybe I am just crap at doing so, my knees hurt afterwards and so I miss the fun factor a bit , so I dont see the point very much.
Everyone who shares the experience of commuting on The Strand during rush would agree that the leg position is always just wrong when
these buses, cars, motorbikies, people, cabbies interfere anyway , so you I MUST HAVE a brake anyway, so why not use it while backpedaling ? -

yesterday while I was enjoying (a few too many) weekend starter pints after work in the
Viaduct Pub just off Old Baileys on newgate st. a crowd of 8 to 10 fixed riders passed by at arround 8pm
Was that any of you lot ? Did not look very smelly cat race to me. But what do I know..just curious, its just of a reflex, selective perception kind a thing I can not help
Once the eye spots a aestheticly pleasing (gearless) rear hub ya head turns round.its like skaters looking for grindable kerbs, photographers looking for good light
windsurfers look at the clouds ...or whatever anarchical endeavour i.e 'fixed' idea
it may be one pursuits. German holds a brilliant word for it : "automatisierte Endhandlung" -

TheBrick(Tommy) that is a cool clock. Oil produced is quite scary. By far the quickest number.
but its finite ! oil as petrol on cars is such a waste. it is such a precious resource. In 50 years we run out.
You can fuel cars with other other energy sources, but aviation is screwed !
Our children will have a really interesting time.... -

I know these german ones. Typical german efficency.
Lets teach some engineering here:
See da number on the side ? U call that with your mobile if you want to unlock it
and your bill gets charged. inside there is a GPS transmitter.
If you call the number omitting the bike ID you get a computer voice telling you where
to find the next bike. If the bike is moved outside a certain city area it locks
automatically.apart from that you can take it where you want an leave it there outside on the streetAll sponsered by German Rail. Have seen them mostly in Berlin..
Good idea..but its not fixed...

nimhbus
breglis funny just did this tour today
If I show up I make sure none of you guys gets last...I am slow and my ratio is quite long for that one hilly bit, but be well up for it for funs sake
If you think about some cool amazingly fast and dangerous alley cat race in NYC, I would be that fat black cat in that grannys
window sleeping...
are you looking for a waterboy ? 8-)P.S.: me is bayswatered
that looks like a nice ride there
yeah it was 30 something k. most ist cycle route no.4 . very much car-less.

thanks , guys
as always prompt and pro advice... I will try.
@31trum : No I just just the link that came with the chain. I guess that is the pain.
Is that sub optimal ?
