i think a Richmond Park Event like this would be good :

We all meet in the Park, probably one sunny evening around 6pm would be best.

We set up camp by Roehampton Cafe, with Beers, food, music etc.

Then, We run Time Trials round a smallish lap - Suggest this one, it's fast, good fun, and half of it has no cars :

So, we have someone there with a stop-watch etc, and this way people can turn up as and when , do their lap, then just hang out and drink beer while others do theirs.
Some kind of prize or pot for the winner.

I think it sounds like an interesting variation on a group ride. thoughts?

My relatively new specialized has developed a creaking noise, only when i stand up and really put pressure and side to side motion on the front end.
Now, i'm quite sure something simply needs tightening/oiling, but what? where? not sure where to look, as it's not obvious from whence the noise cometh

Yes, in fact none of the money from car tax goes anywhere near the roads, i have been told.

Anyway, whether that is true or not, the fact is that the law requires Car drivers to pay the tax. It doesn't require cyclists to do so. However, this does not in any way mean that the cyclist does not have equal rights to use them.

i saw a thing a few years ago on the tour de france coverage about what they eat...in the morning before they set off they had a big bowl of pasta, and they ate jam/maramalade sarnies on the road! strange, but true.
