I remember trying to smash up an old Peugeot frame with a claw hammer, don't begin to ask why.
I couldn't dent any of the tubes, I was so ammazed. It was as if it was made of solid bar. It weighed several tonnes, so maybe old Peugeots are solid?I don't recomend getting anything with Reynolds tubing. Old fashioned budget frames were built really heavy and tough, why not one of them.

The official London to Cambridge was last weekend 22nd, I still have the route card I think, if people want it, i'll scan it.
I didn't spot any other fixed riders on it, apparently I was the first fixed to finish, I was probably the only fixed though.
I ran a 50:15 and it took 3 hours 15 minutes, we took one 15 min tea break and we stopped to fix my Speedplay pedals. I was fairly pleased with that as we had kept energy to come back, although we had one too many beers and caught the train home instead. -

Hmm, When I first had my fixed I would never coast on any other bike. I found I when going fast round corners I would always wipe out from pedal strike. Took me four times before I learnt.
The reverse happened when I cycled around Ireland on a geared tourer. Soon as i came home and got on the fixed and it quickly reminded me not to freewheel.

A tin of Nitro-Morse makes short work of most paint jobs. Don't wear gloves, it hurts like hell but makes you a man.
Don't get it in your mouth. Eyes would hurt too, but I haven't tried that.Me and a mate stripped on of his bikes, you could read "Reynolds 531" one one of the tubes, written in small.
The braisings came out real nice, it looked so cool. I wanted to just lacquer it as it was.It took us days to re-paint it with an old air gun. We sprayed it in his shed which was stupid but my choice, I later lost consciousness.

Cheers edmundane, no worries if you don't want to get rid of it. I'm slowly trying to buid up a collection of Miche rings and sprockets.
Currently I ride 50:15 which people will tell me is rediculous, but I find it rather comfortable. When I can be bothered I want to put a 51 I have on the front.Yeah slowing is a struggle and trackstanding uses a huge ammount of energy, but its what I like and feel comfortable with. I have tried much lower ratios and find I spin out at relativly slow speeds. Even on rollers I can only muster a cadence of about 180rpm. I have no problem with providing the torque, so a high gear is the answer.
I'm awaiting a barrage of comments calling me a weirdo now.

To remove the Miche carrier, insert a sprocket into it and wind the lock ring down hand tight, leaving a slight gap, so its not tight, but the sprocket can't come off, like half a mil.
Use a chain whip and turn the sprocket and carrier off in a anti-clockwise direction. Once they have budged you will need to gradually unwind the lockring in a clockwise manner. Usually it can all be done by hand when its loosened. If its a Miche 18T 1/8th, I'll have it so long as it isn't buggered. I got cash or parts to swap.

6 tooth cog.
12 tooth by conventional standards, does anyone still make a 12 tooth?
