leeww
crm2943 I am picking up my frame from Vaz Finishers tomorrow - can post some pictures as a reference if its of any use (maybe in a previous thread?).
That would be cool, just post it in this thread, it would be great to see a few examples from both VAZ and Armortex - don't forget the close ups.

No problem. Can't resist a lingering close up...
As a reference cf. Mercian, Vaz charge £50 for a basic strip, prime, spray and laquer (all baked on)...add 5 for pearlescent laquer and another 5 for metallics...

For what its worth I've found him really accomodating, particularly of indecision about colours, and a pleasure to deal with. He's clearly had years in the business of spraying frames, specifically stove enamelling, and runs a small 'cottage' type of operation - but this is all a matter of record anyway and I guess his work needs to speak for itself!

Mine is pretty predictable and dull - initials of the missus and babies, followed by the last four didgits of my (old) phone number. Easy to remember innit.
I like BringMeMyFix as a user name; I imagine it shouted in a Brian Blessed style voice, instructing an underling to scurry off and fetch a gleaming bike ready to crush some upstart or other...
...then again, I have had far too much coffee this morning...

aidan i just this second bought a:
Abus Granit Steel O Flex 1000 80cm Cable LockI've got the same lock - it has successfully withstood two known theft attempts (ably assisted by me bellowing like an enraged Goose...) and acted as armour in a couple of crashes. Even though its a bit mangled, its still going strong...good'un.

Meneer, I've got a vintage 531 Dawes frame in the cupboard under the stairs - actually with very similar 'Nervex-y' lugs to your invalid...its had a pretty crude rattlecan paint job, so no stickers or decals, but is true and in very good shape. A 56cm if I recall correctly...I'd be chuffed for it to go to a good home and wouldn't want much for it...
let me know if you're interested.

Tommo
velocity boy I had such a great time riding the other BMX I bought back to the house of the girl I gave it to that I'm thinking of getting one for myself.
Hehe, I miss not having one now.
You should have see the grin on my face rolling into London on it.
Spent a few years commuting into central London on a BMX (both 20 and 24"s) - half an hour each way was the greatest part of the day; mishief on wheels! Definitely sowed the seeds of a SS obsession...but had to graduate to bigger wheels for a longer ride

Hello all. Thought I'd wade in on this discussion as my first post (will make a proper introduction later on...)
My Felt Cruiser might like a new home...it's 7005, light and fast...mostly stock, though I've added Red Odi Mushroom grips and a Red HS33 hydraulic rim brake...the hills of SE London aren't too kind to 24" wheels but it would be a suitable steed for pub runs - understated bling anyone?! I'd be after £200 for it
If anyone is interested (rg37 - a bit closer to your budget?) I'll put some pictures up later...
Sorry for the thread hijack!
Bugger...
