i've never tried cycle fit, but i think i'll check them out in future.
and i can't help but agree with you re condor, most of the guys are great ( and a few of them are really, really helpful) but the bad service is a real problem.. i get the feeling that they're overstretching themselves these days and as result the service takes a bit of a knock..
then again all bike shops can be rubbish with customer service, i used to work at dauphin years ago and we were terrible !

sounds like you had a bad day at condor. and i know what you mean, they can be tres difficult.. i've had problems there recently, including a service where they left my front wheel nuts with half a turn on one side and completely undone on the other (!) and when i dropped by a day later to politely inform them that they should improve their checks before a bike went out the door, they suggested it was my fault and perhaps someone had tried to nick my front wheel..
luckily before i exploded with rage one of the guys remembered me from Dauphin Sport and apologised..
but what other decent shops are there in london ?

I'd tend to agree with imoncrank and go custom for that money..
i had until 2 weeks ago (got nicked) a condor potenza which was about £800 and have to say it was a brilliant winter training bike. the geo on the potenza is designed for track whereas the pista is definitely more for road. in reality the potenza has a harsher head tube angle which makes it a tad more responsive, but the toe overlap was fine..
however, now i get to do it all again, i'm building custom this time. the condors are really good bikes, but after a while you'll want to personalise it and end up changing most of the components anyhow.. unless you're using the bike strictly as a training bike then i'd go custom.. also its fun to learn about the different components and you get hooked on ebay !
good luck anyhow..

the girl with the bianchi / pink rims practically ran me over on saturday. i was coming out of a shop in shoreditch and she flew past, on the pavement !
i agree that the fixie scene is becoming huge here, and certainly the trendy element contributes to it. hopefully though it might translate to more people becoming interested in the track too.

howdy all
thanks to Jos for giving me the nod about this forum, (btw you owe me a pint for that pista headset ! ;)
have been riding fixed for a while now, used to race at HH a long, long time ago ! but am fully back on the bike these days and looking forward to hooking up with everyone sometime, just as soon as i get the new bike finished.. (see what do you ride..)
cheers.. -
well up until a week ago i was riding a condor potenza until some little sherbert knicked it from Grays Inn Rd. grrrr - all black with blue eggbeaters about the only distinctive feature, but keep em peeled anyhow..
so i'm in the process of building up a beautiful old simoncini, am going pretty much italian all the way, hopefully will be on the road in a couple of weeks but in the meanime i'm back on the geared ALAN, v nice, but too many gears !

its gotta be gear inches !
most continental teams still refer to gearing as gear inches..
its interesting to hear ratios, but i'm with winston on this and its far easier to understand the length of travel..
eg. dicki riding 44x16 = 74.3
i ride a 47x17 = again about 74
