Everyone and their mums is making OTP fixies these days.
Langster, Track, Fillmore, Plug, Pompino, T1, Pista, Flyer, have missed loads I'm sure, although there are some ok bikes in that lot.
Now there's a bit of a backlash against stock fixed bikes, the next step is to mass produce stock bikes that pretend they're not.
Whatever floats yer boat I say, but yes it's bandwagon jumping marketeering stuff. Once the "trendy" aspect dies away I'm sure a few lines might be discontinued, and lots of these on ebay. -

So, it looks like a lockring, Sheldon says it's a lockring, but it aint budging with my dodgy hammer and screwdriver method.
Need to remove the freewheel to replace the spoke which kindly pinged out up Dartmouth Park Hill this evening and it's gonna be a damn site easier without my redundant freewheel in the way.
Tips? Special tool needed? Anyone got one I can borrow?
Cheers! -

the-smiling-buddha
brett I've had 'em since may and punctured as much as when I was running stock tyres. Possibly put a lot of it down to the amount of rain we've had in London and the assiciated debris on the roads, but I definitely won't buy them again.
'em being what, gators...?
Sorry, bad timing of post - gators, yes. Full of holes now - bombproof my ass!!

Bloody brilliant, loved it! Especially a nice couple of sprints over Chiswick and Kew. I'm 'kin knackered though - finally crashed out about 7 after raiding the local garage for grub.
PS Why did all the passers-by think we were going to Brighton, especially when we were crossing bridges going north? Is it the only place you can cycle to or something? -
Hills, lots of them!
Dartmouth Park, Muswell, down Highgate West, up Swains, back to Crouch End, up Cranleigh Gardens, then across and up Holly Lodge followed by one near archway whose name I've forgotten. Fell asleep this afternoon, now I have to wake myself up for some lovely flat bridges. Might start with a trip to the boozer.
BMMF: cheers for that, good training fun! -

Was shown this today.
If that's indicative of the majority of people's attitude to cycling then we're doomed.
Just ride it, ferchrissakes!!!! -
I stuggled with this one for a while, but basically came to the conclusion that whatever field someone is successful in and famous for, then that's all they should be judged on. The fact is that whether it's sport, politics, music, whatever, if you're to really succeed and get to the top of your game you have to be unbelievably driven and in a lot of cases that probably reflects your personality - dedicated, introverted, might seem like an arsehole to other people. But at the end of the day that doesn't matter if you're that set on achieving your goals rather than simply achieving fame for fame's sake.
Obviously I have no discernable talent, but if I had a constant barrage of people I didn't know asking me things etc then I expect I'd come off looking like a jerk.Having said that, weren't the cyclists interviewed after the tour today a frickin miserable bloody bunch???

Perhaps the best way is to have a couple of meeting points so people can join when they like, cos there are a lot of us.
ie: 2300 Brick Lane Bikes, 2330 Tower Bride south side. Keep them definite, any other arrangements whisper/text/phone.
I'm almost definitely going to want to go to the pub for a bit beforehand, but don't mind where.Tommy: I think there's footpaths over Barnes railway bridge.
On my way home a bloke in the passenger seat of a van said to me, "oi mate, yer bag's open", so I said cheers and stopped to check it - it wasn't, felt like a right mug. Then someone else drove into me at a junction, whilst I was in front of him. And after that me back wheel started disassembling itself. So yes, strange day...
