nimhbus Yeah, i saw the Wilier before, but discounted it on grounds of Price. however, now the price is creeping up and up... who knows.
Mashton, i really liked your Condor -was that the standard build? you toild me it cost you just under 700. it seemed much lighter than poor old Mouse's heavy, cumbersome 06 model...
It's the '07 model and it was just over £700, not under, IIRC :-). It's all standard, except for an upgrade on the wheelset to CXP33s. Of course, it has now got a new saddle, but that is mainly to do with aesthetics.
Are you coming on Sunday? You can take her for a longer spin if you want.

Just to add another into the mix: Cyclesurgery in Holborn has a Willier Pista in the window. I know nothing about it but it looks kind of lovely and there aren't many of them around.
Might be worth some google time?
It's £699 and is aluminium, so probably doesn't fit your needs. but I've been meaning to mention it for a while now...

Look, this is silly. Who can make 7pm for a lap? Much later than that and I will be hanging around at work for no reason. And I hate that :-(
If the turnout is going to be poor (no offence nimhbus but I don't really live near there) then I think I'll sack it and see you on Sunday for the social ride, if you're coming.

htay
aidan
mashton The first ride after giving the bike a bit of a clean / service: the chain is shiny and at perfect tension, the whole drive train is silent and you just fly along.
Oh yeah :-)
i agree! brillant feeling:)
I like the sound of the hub humming as you speed along. And the tire singing across the tarmac.
Humming and singing? Are you sure you don't have some birds nesting in your rear wheel? ;-)

hippy
mashton I could go a chain tool lesson too - maybe bring one along on Sunday to social / bike polo, if you'd be so kind? Been pondering taking a link or two out of the chain to tighten up the rear clearance. mmmm
I've got a chaintool (ealing) if you want to borrow it. Can even show you how to use it.
Cheers. Well, if your coming to do lap(s) tomorrow evening, it'd be great if you had it with you :-) If not then I can probably get it sorted on Sunday...
It's not in any way urgent.

velocity boy
We can make up the route so long as someone knows their way around the city bit to Brick Lane (I'm a bit fuzzy around there).
I'm sure we'll muddle through, I usually do; and I thought that getting lost in the city is de-rigeur anyway? On a Sunday it is a pleasure to be lost there - no traffic and loads of fun :-)
And if all else fails, there is always Google Maps.

Meet at the same place as last time: the car park here at 6:30.

matt i am up for this, living in twickenham at the current moment so on route home from work.what pub you thinkng about after?
We could go for the same one that served last time. It was either the Red Lion or a very close to it: a big beer garden on the Junction of Castlenau, Church Road and Queen Elizabeth Walk.
Reckon we'll be to the pub for 7:30 / 8ish, having completed a lap or two. We can do two this time right?

velocity boy Shit. This is this Sunday!
Route, we need a route confirmed.
Has anyone had a chance to ride the city bit yet?
Do we really need a route for this?
We know where we're starting (Greyhound just off High St ken, see 1st post.), we know where we're ending (bike polo court, top of Brick Lane) and most of us know central London pretty damn well.
Why don't we just take a CM type approach and wend our way past as many sights / cool streets as possible? Definitely take in the places listed in the first post and then see where the fancy takes us...
Of course, this won't help if peopleare planning to hook up with us en route, but it isn't exactly far from Kensington to Shoreditch so no real need for anyone to join half way.
As for start time, what about 1pm?

hippy Just trying to help ya big sook bag! Anyway, saddle sores are a given for unwashed roadiescum like me :P
I take it you've tried Germolene on them? A single application sorted my less than beautiful behind out a treat.
(on reflection, I am not sure I should be encouraging this direction of discussion, ah well it is done now...)

Virgin will take your bike for free if it's in a bag. That's how I got mine over :-)
