This is wierd, i was just thinkin on my way home, i wonder if there is a fixed hub gear.
you see, there always was one, but they tended to go for silly money on the ebay. ask fruitbat, he's old enough to have bought one when they first came out.
in fact, i think beryl burton gave it to him in exchange for a quick reacharound on todmorden common.

(might be a repost?) but this is quite exciting, in a weirdly moist kind of way; and check it out, anodized with laser etching; well fuck me slowly with a chainsaw.
The first batch of prototype Fixed Gear 3 speeds is finished. The new hub will be called the S3X. The hub will be made using a much stronger aluminum hubshell. Overall gear range will be 160%.- 1st Gear -37.5%
- 2nd Gear - -25%
- 3rd Gear - Direct Drive
- Gear step gear 1 to gear 2: 20%
- Gear step gear two to gear 3: 33%
Shifters are still up in the air but we have had many requests for a bar end style shifter. Also we are still planning on the possibility of doing some anodized colors with laser etching instead of screen printed graphics. Please comment on what you would like to see in the way of shifters or color choices.
- 1st Gear -37.5%

this poll stinks:
all the newbies are choosing not to take it out of shame.
and all the older guys are jumping at the chance to show their pride.
if all members/un-registered readers of the site were to enter in the poll, the result would be v. different.from the second I arrived in london I wanted to ride. but didnt have the funds to buy a bike until about a year later. rode geared for about 2.5 years, finally been fixed for last 4 months.
I orriginally thaught that fixed was only for messangers or posers/wannabes. so didnt buy into it. but after reading up and talking to a few people decided I wanted to give it a go. I put my first bike together and loved it instantly.I can tell why racers use fixed geard bikes for training/winter sessions, all the spinning really strengthens you up! I've since gone back on geared aluminum racers and you just f**ing fly on them! cos your pedaling tecnique and strength/speed is really improved. so damn quick!
i've got the bike cos i love fixed gear bikes, not the fixed gear scene.

might have been me. since theft struck, I ride a raleigh conversion. and a holdsworth.
yesterday i rode 74" up constitution hill (in bristol). until you've achieved similar feats, mr deadlyunipack, i suggest you run along and let the big boys talk.
the fixed apocalypse does seem to be arriving though.
