Cheers for the concern. I was fine after the crash, continued riding home. But then I had to brake hard 15 min later, and the fork distorted more and my front wheel hit the frame, sending me over the handlebars for a second time! Just a few cuts and scrapes though.
My bike was outside UCH before the crash, I work as a nurse there.
Any one got any 55-57cm frames lying around they don't want (budget sub £150) ;)

Besides the obvious 'keep pedalling' advice, i found the first few days of fixed riding tough because i was trying to do all my braking by resisting the pedals turning with my legs. I thought that was how you were meant to brake. Then i figured out you can just use the front brake! and i found it all a lot easier from then. No real point going ss first though, just try fixed but take it easy for a couple weeks until you get used to it.

yeah, it's elitist bollox
yeah true, but some of it is so pretty! i'd get this in the online sale for 45 if i could afford it:
but i'll make myself wait till they have another sale at velorution, where the stuff was proper cheap. On a side note, the Sportswool they use in their jerseys is just about the perfect material for cycling clothing.

ive got commitments again on thursdays, so wont be making this for awhile :( still ride the route on my own though, the best bit of the ride (besides breezing past some guy on a road bike on the way up) is the climb really 'loosens' up your legs, so on the way down to swiss cottage you can just spin, and not bother with brakes.

Anyone up for a 'race' on Friday Night? I was thinking we meet at the John Snow and then see who can be the last to leave the pub and still make it up Highgate Hill West, to The Flask pub in time for last orders. It would be a heady combination of cycling prowess, nerves of steel and ability to get served quickly at a busy bar! Who's up for it?
