Rubino pros on one bike (standard rubinos make me sad), specialized roubaix on sometimes, gatorskins on my longer distance bike. Got some fotezza tricomps to put on when my rubinos wear out.

It's true for new bikes, but not secondd hand stuff (until recently). A keirin frame for $600 (£300) is not cheap. You can get decent second hand frames here for £100 and decent bikes for £250.

I have a Campag record seatpost and saddle combo and I need the tool that separates them! This is the two bolt record seatpost that had a special bent spanner to reach the bolt heads under the saddle. Does anyone have one that I could borrow so that I can get the saddle off?

I've had loads of good conversations iwth Jamaican dudes in Brixton about riding fixed in Jamaica. I mainly laugh at myself when I go down big hills and imagine what it looks like to see my legs spinning so fast.

Next time that happens you can boot the tyre with a bit of cardboard or thin plastic (choc bar wrapper or something). Probably not worth it for half a mile, but it might be the best way to get home tonight.

I think it goes yellow when there are responses which you haven't read yet. I find it quite useful.

Saw some pics of a Fixie Inc hub recently - solid high flange and silver. Can't link to them cos their site is a nightmare, but might be worth a look.

The on-ones are rebranded dimensions which are similar quality to formula/ambrosio/system ex etc.

The frame is probably spaced at 126mm so you could either cold set it to 120mm, use a 120mm hub and just screw the tracknuts down to take up the 3mm either side or add spacers (if the axle is long enough) to talke the OLN of the hub up to 126mm. The second option isn't ideal but will work, the first will require a bit more work than the third but they are both good.

Please don't cut things off that frame - it would be a real shame. If you want the clean look then buy a track frame.

Internal cable routing on the TT so the thingies are to stop water etc getting in. The wingnut is an attachment point for a race number.

The chainline will be the same. As you say there are less freewheel threads (because there are some lockring threads), but they finish at the same point where the hub flange starts. So the freewheel will screw on the same amount and so chainline will be the same.
