jonaent Are they meant specifically for the track and not for urban road use? i.e. no skidding? Do u think I'll be able to re-use the Record Hubs on different rims?

I believe you can get away riding on the track without a lockring, but you'd have to ask someone who has actually used a track more than once (i.e. not me).

Tubs have many advantages on road and track as velocity boy says, but they are probably not the best choice for urban fixed (more debris on the road for punctures, and can be more expensive to replace if you wear through them quickly from skidding). Up to you though.

yeah I wouldnt ride them fixed but still an absolute bargain. re-redish them for road use (you might need to find a longer rear axle) and sell them on if you don't have a suitable road bike.

If the wheels are in ok nick you could just leave the front alone, use the existing brake and rebuild the rear with a track hub (it's not all that hard, again sheldonbrown.com has the answers).

Multispeed freewheels need the correct splined tool, think singlespeed freewheels come off with a pin spanner

As the spacing's not 120 the dropouts are probably forward facing, if this is the case you can't use 'normal' track chaintugs, right?

I squeezed my 126 dropouts to fit a 120 hub with no problem, they just spring back to the original spacing once you take the wheel out (in case you were worrying about doing anything irreversible). I'm fairly certain you'll be able to run a hub 2mm smaller than your dropouts with no problems at all (or 2mm larger for that matter, but inserting the wheel might not be as easy, and I haven't dont this personally).

Go for it, you aren't going to find a 128mm hub in a hurry unless you space it out yourself (or maybe ask Gromada if they wouldn't mind doing this for you)
