Sheldon brown has a cheat on how to condition them fast so that they stop hurting your ass. I am debating that too, but am leaning towards no because I sometimes do park in the rain and when i got hit the only thing that got really scruffed was the saddle. I do need a new saddle because mine is too broad and when I sit on it properly it presses against the mucles on the inside and back of my legs.

Stef i know it mught sound stupid but try cross training for fitness, i think i'll get myself at the swimming pool or something like that just to improve my endurance performance, mycardiovascular work is covered.
I cross train like mad. I do curls with pints (for strength, mattress yoga (for exoticism), yawning (to stretch), and bellybutton lint picking (for concentration).
-
My idea of training is generally to just do it. It does nothing do increase my stamina, but it greatly increases your pain tolerance over time. I intend to do no training for the Dynamo, but will probably enter one Audax event between now and then. I will probably want to do it geared, since it looks like there is a fair amount of climbing. Is anyone else interested in sharing the pain between now and then? I think I’ll stick to 200 k until the dynamo, but will probably want to increase that afterwards.
Fixedwheelnut, any ones you recommend coming up?

Hovis Brown nothing happened on the sixth of june last year, so i'm expecting to be equally disappointed tomorrow.
Wrong and wrong. You are just in the wrong country.
For tomorrow: http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s45/lopan666/777copy.jpg
For last year: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/skixpxtown/66sickflyer.jpg
In the 666, you could get a free tattoo of a bike with pentagram spokes in one of the checkpoints.
Messengers put it up, it was open to everyone for the same price and everyone had fun. It IS harping on a point, but if ya don't get the basic economics (the economics of money and of people too) then I am not going to explain.

velocity boy Really riding is just a euphemism for boozing. We all know why this forum is a success, everyone single one of you is a closet alcoholic.
Anyway, enough of this chatter, I need to ride.
Closet alcoholic? Speak for yourself. I have nothing to hide and will drunkenly crash into the bike of the first fucker who says I am sober.

Took me getting hit 2x in a month.
I sat down with myself and told the idiot to his face that he better start riding defensively lest he run out of skin to scrape, or of whatever little brain he had.
Seems to have worked. I assume drivers will fuck up, and try to keep an eye out for a quick escape route. I still go fast (for me), take the lane and ride assertively, but I am a lot less aggressive and a lot less injured. In the end, it is not about who is right but about who is alive.

So, I am moving by bike, and google maps suggested that I take this route:
http://maps.google.com/maps?um=1&tab=wl&q=26%20Evershot%20Road%2C%20N43BB%20
Hovever, I know it would be suicide because of the hills, so I am thinking this:

Bear in mind that I will have a loaded Christiana bike, which even unloaded is not light. The elevation profile seems semi reasonable. Does anyone have any suggestions that would shave off the worst bits into kinder, gentler slopes?
And of course, if anyone is interested in a slow ride tomorrow laughing at me, I am happy to have company. I think it will take 2 trips.

velocity boy In need of lubrication, finally know what's happening re: wife and words like annulment, divorce, shipping, lawyer, separation all come to mind.
Would be good to meet people down the John Snow or something, knock back a few, and ride off into the night when I can no longer walk properly :)
Could be worse. You did get your Phils for cheap, right?
I think I might be watching football - Brazil is playing some little piddly european team tonight, and one of my mates from work invited me. If you are not hell bent on the idea of John Snow, y’all are welcome to come along.
I cannot make it too late tonight because I have to move tomorrow, so I am getting up early, picking up a cargo bike at Velorution, and getting on to my new Finsbury Park home.
