Wonder where in London this dangerous hill is -
Brilliant day. thanks to all involved for it's meticulous organisation and the high spirits of all the riders. Almost no negative vibes the whole day. ('almost' coz dancing james almost got attacked by a coach party of stag revelers -who almost got d-locked by James)
A good call Teddy, all of us riding in one huge group rather than 4 smaller groups, which would have been fragmented so less impressive and harder to marshal. In fact the marshalling was slick we all managed all to stay together and ride at quite a pace. General interaction between the riders/marshalls and other people/drivers was generally mellow and positive (except fot the grumpy cabbies).
Not not able to sleep from so much excitement or is it the effect of the snuff that came in the goody bag?

The best thing we can do here is take note of what is going on in reality, have some mutual understanding, and try to avoid more deaths/injuries. This is far more productive than passionately advocating for some kind of commuter utopia where 'good' always prevails...
no need to wait for any commuter utopia. Education is quite effective to foster mutual understanding,. massive subsidised training of cyclists, and on-bike training and cyclist awareness sessions for lorry drivers
Which is already beginning to happen check out this scheme in Lambeth for hgv (and all essesntial) drivers which is being taken up by other boroughs

I enjoyed HL2 but not the 'storyline'--I can't for the life of me work out why these things are treated like high literature in some quarters. (...snip...)
You didn't strike me as a video game person oliver... Glad you liked half life 2 . The original game got me into gaming. Not for the narrative but more for the immersion and ecapism. It;s considered an watershed game in terms of how the the (trite) narrative unfolds without cutscenes so maintaining the player involvement. For a good story I read a book or watch a film.
In terms of video game development the medium is so young and it's hard to predict where gaming will be in say 10 or 20 years. We're in the black and white silent era (compared to film) so much more fun, innovation and ideas and eventually some good stories (i hope) to come...can't wait.

Was there this week, amazing museum.
Took me about 6+ hours to get there from London.the museum used to be in Lincoln, in fact went to visit lincoln looking for that museum after reading about it in a old guidebook...It had moved to Llandrindod wellls 13 years earlier.
There's a victorion festival there in august which features penny farthing riding according to the curator

best part about Bioshock 2? playing as a Little Sister, that was properly awesome without a word, now I understand why the Little Sister weren't affected by the decay of Rapture.
(Bit of a spoiler there edscoble, never mind). I gave up bioshock 2 since it seemed so like the 1st game and lifess to short... went back to the beloved bayonetta which just keeps giving
The idea of playing as a little sister may encourage me to try again (good spoiler esdscoble)

I will be nerding it up this weekend at an intermediate bicycle maintenance course paid for by Lambeth counci
[snip]
Anything I need to know before I endeavour to become an expert on bearings and what not?Kattiep, if you have a grounding in basic maintenance (ie you can replace inners and tryes, brake blocks and cables, use spanners and allen keys & know your limiter screws from your barrel adjuster) then you should be well up for dealing with hubs, headsets and BBs
Enjoy the course...

Agreed but i would reserve judgement until you have played the E3 demo. It's only 5ish minutes long but it's easily the most exciting bit of gameplay i have experienced. Ever.
Not bad considering the demo is nearly a year old.
Ok I'll give it a chance... how does it differ from the earlier games?
We are in a great era for gaming with some class games coming out this year... Not enough time to play them all so need to be so selective
-
Just completed bayonetta on normal which was tough... now trying it on hard... which is insane.
(Started bioshock 2 which felt like the first game and I will continue to play it ...when I have had enough of Bayonetta -probaly when i'm 60)
GoW 1 and 2 were good but got a bit tired of the QT boss battles so may give the 3rd game a miss- always looking for something new in a game.

Chap on a Surly last night on Victoria Embankment asking whether my bike was covered in wrapping paper. I didn't get another chance to catch up and ask whether you were on here.
.Hi Vic... 'Twas I on the Surley... and nice to meet you and your SFX illusion bike, wonderfully trippy... What frame is under the vinyl?
Been a dylan fan for ever yet never new he did a whole set of gospel songs on a bootleg called "wear the Fox hat" which I've just found
http://www.bobsboots.com/CDs/cd-w14.html
my mate asked me to recommend one dylan album just can't decide. I equally love desire, infidels, highway 61 revisited, time out of mind, blood on the tracks, street legal
Any suggestions?
