Here is a well used Kona P2 fork. As per the title, from my 2009 Honky Tonk. Lots of use, rust bubbling by the crown lugs covered in black hammerite and generally tired! Steerer cut to 235mm as per picture. Star nut installed. Original spec as per:

Tacx bottle had become brittle over time and split, used an inner tube patch to save it from the recycling bin. No negative taste effects to report yet!

Maybe a bit rough but on 3-piece BMX cranks with a similar setup you screw a chunky bolt into the axle and knock the axle through the crank arm.

Looking at the setup you could do this if you got a nut with the right thread for the axle?

I think unfortunately braking in these conditions is just a bit shit. I'm too prissy to plan a ride in the rain, but when it's happened rim brakes/carbon rims braking power is way down. On top of the above, inspect the pads to check there's no grit stuck in them. Had this recently and scored a nice channel in one of my wheels :/

Can you cut some of the "fat" of the rubberised housing off with a razor blade/Stanley then cover with electrical tape if needed? Liberally grease then go for it again?
