This is back on (rim brake 105 in black for £289) seems a wild deal. From what I can tell, you'd just need one of these for a tenner to use the rear mech standard mount?

Last bout of Cannondale spam. I forgot I'd come up with a chainset plan. Originally, the top end bikes came with CODA Magic chainsets, real early technology with proprietary BBs like Hollowtech and spiders to mount chainrings. They are rare as anything now, so how to get the look with readily availabile parts? Remembered Hulsroy had polished up a Rotor crank with black spider, so I'm going to do the same but buff off the ano on the spider to make a ROTA chainset

The DMR Sidekick I bought is cool, but the frame was raw... I lacquered it but inevitably it went rusty. I've stripped it and will get it powder coated, either bright silver/chrome if possible or white. Newest addition however is this, a Cannondale CAD3 Saeco. Bought it from Facebook Marketplace for a fair price, came with all the original parts other than the chainset, which is sadly a fat 105-series compact rather than a nice skinny double. The rear shifter needed a few toots of penetrating oil to shift nicely but got it going.
The 105 groupset is in nice condition aside from the rear mech which has had a scrape. Frame is really tidy, small ding in the TT and a little bubble on the headtube and a flaky cable stay by the rear mech but otherwise great.
Since buying it Monday I have been frustrated with what to do with it. Fitting a 5500 105 chainset (£30 or so) needs and Octalink BB which is near £50, so not sure there. Black 7000 105 would look smart but is a bit dull. SRAM Red 22 bits are available, American but spendy. So I think I'll clean it all up, get it working nicely then see how much it gets ridden before making any plans.

Bought a cheap tatty Moser frame for £50 on ebay. Shipped the Mirage parts and Calima wheels from the Merckx onto it, and some nice Vittoria Corsas. Sprayed a Murex stem and Deda bars matt to match. Set the shifters too low. But had a nice hack bike. However, no mudguard or rack bosses made it a bit useless, definitely need guards even in the "dry" up in Aberdeen so found this cool Joe Waugh Fast Audax frameset. 531, classic looking thing and big colour! Plan is to ship the Moser parts onto this, along with some black Blumels mudguards and enjoy the lack of spray. I'm also Joe W so the headtube is relevant

Some updates to add to this thread. Eventually settled on black Veloflex tubs for the Merckx Strada. Got a good few rides on it over summer, really nice to ride. Also got a spare of stainless Arundel cages too, King cages in the pic though. This one is done!
Also, better picture of the DMR built up, full early-2000s spec.

Jumping in here put of context but searched and I don't think this has been posted before:
AWOL set from 1995 that i keep coming back to, especially Dis Sound Ruff around 31 mins, drop is mad. Managed to pick up a CD of it on ebay too, they're out there!
More recently found this, its a bit frantic but the mix of Valley of the Shadows towards the end makes up for it

Honestly, the pictures on the listing didn't show the afterburners but I could see "Bertone" on the side and Googled it, mad.
Seller was a cycling nut and had a fair few bikes tucked away. Said he was tempted to keep the saddle himself but thought it deserved to go with the bike, cool guy.
As this bike is now n+3, I'll get some red/black Keos, 25mm tyres (23s on at the mo) and some new black bartape for the Spring and ride it as is. Headset is a bit gross but smooth and I'm honestly a bit scared to knock it out to replace it in case I ding/swell the headtube!

Yeah chap I bought it from had it hung up for ages, there's a little ding on the TT but no flaky paint, bubbling or whatever, quite the survivor. Chainset has been changed for a newer Shimano model. 7700 Dura Ace is period correct (I think) so maybe I'll slowly upgrade parts. As much as carbon wheels and MGOOF is awesome, it would be a shame to break up the original parts.

Finally joined the ranks here, found a time warp Saeco CAAD 3 on Facebook Marketplace and bought it this morning, nice start to the week! Coda hubs and QRs on Mavic rims, original stem and a wild Bertone Design saddle! Plans are... hang fire and come up with a masterplan, although SRAM Red 22 keeps coming to mind. However, part of me would like to clean it, swap for some trad drop bars and ride it (in spring!)

Found this while browsing ebay, seems unusual/interesting and not crazy money, Silk 600

Medium Tifosi frameset with mudguard mounts, ex display for £150. Might make a nice winter bike:

Yeah they're cracking, define the pro/high end builds of the time. If I win the set I found on ebay half the work is done through heel scuff, but I'll get the Dremel out and take it steady. And have a root through the forum as quite a few others have done it without the noxious oven cleaner
